Rev. Bob Rumba/I
speaks at Blyth
Blyth United Church considers
itself fortunate in that Rev. Dr.
Robert Rumball of Toronto, a
talented speaker greatly in de
mand province wide, accepted an
invitation, issued one year ago, to
speak at its anniversary 11 a.m.
service, next Sunday, Oct. 30.
At 3 p.m., if all goes well, he will
arrive in Keswick in the Lake
Simcoe district where he will
deliver another one of his dynamic
messages in his inimitable style of
delivery.
Rev. Bob Rumball is well known
to many people across Canada, for
in 1976 he was nominated for the
position of Moderator of the U nited
Church, losing out narrowly to Lois
Wilson.
In earlier years, Bob Rumball
was a topnotch football player in
the C.F.L., playing for the Hamil
ton Tiger Cats.
Some years ago, he was a
speaker at the Crusade held in
Blyth Memorial Hall. Three years
ago, Dr. Rumball spoke at a special
service in Wesley Willis Church,
Clinton.
Not only is this man a talented
speaker but a writer as well.
Readers of the “Renewal Fellow
ship Magazine - For Concerned
United Church People” - look
forward each month to Rev.
Rumball'sconcise commentary
entitled “Rumballing Along”.
Rev. Rumball is presently mini
ster of the Evangelical Church of
the Deaf in Toronto, and is the
founder and president of the Bob
Rumball Community Centre for
the Deaf.
People, hearing thai lie is going
to be speaking in their area, if at all
possible, flock to hear what this
man has to say. Next Sunday's
topic at Blyth is “People God
Uses”. Those who have heard him
know that he will be down to earth,
that he will speak not one word too
many and that he will make instant
communication with his audience.
That’s his style.
the proposed budget for 1989.
Susan Howson of Blyth intro
duced her assistant Brenda Rad
ford from Londesboro. Susan
Howson gave her book report and
announced these books were on
display in the basement of the
church.
A very humorous skit was put on
by Benmiller U.C.W. members
representing the Human Race in a
court room drama on how our lives
areendangcred. Various members
portrayed the following rolls: The
unborn, The Wildlife, Forest and
Plants, Farmers of the World,
Parks and Recreation Activities,
Commerce and Finance. The
Jury’s verdict was the human race
was guilty of destroying the planet
earth. Rev. L. Ramirez of Blyth
sang a lovely solo in his native
language. Annabelle Armstrongof
Donnybrook gave the Bible Study
on Earth.
The Auburn ladies prepared a
delicious smorgasbord lunch.
The Dungannon U.C.W. was
responsible for the devotions. The
scripture lesson was from Psalm 24
and 8 and was read by Gloria
Pearson. Margaret Errington of
fered prayer and Karen Roberts
gave the meditation on “Being
Neighbours’’. Theoffering was
received and Was moved to be
given to the Queen’s Bush Mini
stry”. Elaine Bechtal of Holmes
ville sang a lovely solo. The roll call
on a Bible verse using earth was
answered by the following
U.C.W.’s: Auburn, Benmiller,
Blyth, Donnybrook, Dungannon,
Goderich North Street, Goderich
Victoria Street, Holmesville, Nile
and Trinity.

rally. June Peck introduced the
