Donald Ives celebrated his birthday on October 17. Gordon and Catherine Caldwell and Edna Mcdonald were weekend visitors with Paul and Isabel Ellis and family in Sudbury. Evalena Webster and Marion Wright spent a few days with Tom Webster and family at Brace­ bridge. Con and Lois van Vliet were delighted with the news they received recently. Their only daughter, Kim Tolton R.N., has accepted an important position at the Toronto General Hospital relating to Organ Transplant pro­ cedure. Kim’s caring, friendly disposi­ tion coupled with wide and diversi­ fied experience in the Nursing field no doubt played a large part in her being chosen from 15 applicants for this prestigious and highly responsible position. Her many duties will include investigating, counselling and evaluatingliverand lung trans­ plant candidates. Kim Tolton is a 1982 graduate of Conestoga College (Stratford Campus) in the Nursing Division of Applied Arts and Technology. Following graduation, she spent one year as a nursing staff member of a psychiatric hospital in London, after which she joined the staff of the Toronto General Hospital, most recently nursing in the Intensive Care Unit, where she also instructed nurses who display- ed potential for this Unit. Her interest in her work knowing no bounds, Kim took post graduate courses at York University. In conversation with her parents shortly after commencing her new duties on October 3, Kim said, “Having my very own office at the Toronto General Hospital has given me a strong sense of belonging.” Kim is very happy that she has been given a chance to work in the Transplant Program, the objective of which is prolong- ment of life and restoration of health for all ages. Joe and Helen Hoggart and Ralph Graviston of Mitchell and Stewart and Mildred Ament spent the weekend at Lurgan Beach. While there Stewart picked a dish of raspberries. Nine tables of card players came out to the weekly euchre part at Biyth Memorial Hall on October 10 despite it being a holiday. High lady for the evening was Ida Proctor while Vera Hesselwood . showed the men how to do it taking the high man’s prize, Carolyn Cunningham was the low lady and Len Shobbrook the low man. Esther Moffat had the most lone hands for the ladies and Ruth Doherty, playing as a man, had the most lone hands for the men. Vi Hoggarth won the special prize. Edythe Snell and Jeff Wittich had the high scores when eight tables of Lost Heir players met in Memorial Hall Wednesday night. Millar Richmond and Evelyn Smith had the low scores.
