Ushers were Kerry Szusz, Sharon Bergs- ma, Michele Dillon and Erin Horbanuik. Choir Practice will be Wednes­ day at 7 p.m.; Bible Study Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. at the home of Maureen Bean, Auburn. Huronview Fellowship is on Octo­ ber 20. Junior Youth Group meets Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Church for indoor board games. Boy’s Club (Grade 5 and 6) will meetonSaturday, Oct. 15 atthe Snihurs. Burns Bazaar and Tea is on October 19 at the hall at 2 p.m. Anyone wanting The Observer schould give $6.50 to Garnet Wright by November 1. Next Sunday, October 16 is Londesboro Church Anniversary. At the morning service guest minister is Rev. Bert Menzies, minister of the Church 1938 -1945. His daughter Marie Banks is guest soloist. In the evening at 8 p.m. Rev. Dave Snihur will be preaching. The men’s choir will sing.There will be fellowship following both services. Following the board meeting on Tuesday, Bob Trick gave the following decision - A motion was passed against the General Coun­ cils decision on homosexuals being ordained as minister’s and all mission givings to be stopped to United Church at this time ‘till further notice. The Sermon topic was to focus on Thanksgiving. The Burns U.C. W. meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 5 at the home of Clara Riley with sixteen including one new member Jean Fox and three visitors prsent. Clara Riley opened the meeting with hymn 568. Jean Scott read the scripture, Psalms95 and 100. Clara Riley gave a reading “Melissa and Mindy’’ followed by prayer. A reading “The Harvesters’ ’ was given by Jean Scott. Renee Snell conducted the business. Members Rachel Jenkins chosen Chief Explorer On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Explorers had their first meeting of thisyear. There are 10 new first year girls which gives a total of 21 members. An election was held: secretary, Lindsay Anderson; chief, Rachel Jenkins; treasurer, Erin Jamieson; and news reporter, Lyndsey Sal- verda. For the meeting Lindsay Anderson and Erin Jamieson read the Explorer Emblem and Paula Allen read the picture. After that members sang the Explorer song and said the Explorer Purpose and the Explorer motto. The Explorer girls decorated the Church for Thanksgiving and made turkeys. For a snack Mrs. Linda Horbanuik brought apple observed a minute's silence in memory of Jean Leiper. Renee Snell led in prayer. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse. Minutes of the last meeting were read. The treasur­ er’s report was given by Margaret Taylor. A thank you card was received from the Leiper family. It was decided that the group buy a winecarafe for the Church. The meeting closed with the benedic­ tion. Grace was sung and lunch served. loaf and orange kool-aid. The next meeting will be October 20. Londesboro people Laura Lyon and Edythe Beacom visited Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Olson at Bark River, Michigan and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Earl, friends and relatives at Pickford, Michigan. Happy Gang Seniors will meet at Londesboro Hall on Thursday, October 13 at 5 p.m. to go to Wingham to tour Royal Homes after having dinner. Everyone should be on time at hall.
