Phone 526-75X9 Presentation honours long-time church member Mrs. Vai McPhee and Mrs. Ethel Smith of Goderich attended the morning service at Knox United Church in Auburn on Sunday, September 25. At this service the new choir lights were dedicated in memory of the late Orval McPhee, long-time member of this Church. At the same service, Mrs. Emmerson Rodger was presented with a certificate for having completed the reading Of the New Testament in the Congregational Bible read­ ing project. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute will be held at the Community Hall on Tuesday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m. This is a dessert luncheon. Mr. Don Kai of Wingham will speak oil Japan. Making the presentations were Marie Hicknell, reeve of McKlllop and chairman of the roads committee and Dennis Merrall, Huron County Engineer. Knox United Church in Auburn was beautifully decorated for the Thanksgiving service, which was conducted by Rev. Dave Snihur. Nancy Park was organist and Irene Millian was pianist. Call to Worship was read alternately, followed by the hymn “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come”. Rev. Snihur gave the Prayer of Approach, followed by The Lord’s Prayer, said in unison. The announcements were given. The Children’s song was entitl- ed‘‘Iwillenter His gates”, and their story was “Bobby and Harold and the Break In”. The hymn, ‘‘Count Your Blessings” was sung. The senior choir sang an anthem under the direction of Margaret Kai. Rev. Snihur read Psalm 100, followed by the prayer chorus, ‘‘Silently Now I wait for Thee.” Prayers of Thanksgiving and Con- cernweregivenbyRev. Snihur, followed by the scripture from Colossians. Rev. Snihur’s sermon was entitl­ ed “To Focus on Thanksgiving”. The offering was received by Gordon Gross and Laurence Plaet- zer, with offeratoryresponse, “We Give Thee ButThine Own” and the hymn, ‘ ‘ We plow the fields and scatter”. The minister pronounced the benediction, followed by the bene­ diction response, ‘‘Reach Out, People Reach Out, to Others” which closed the service. The Seaforth Harmony Kings will be sharing in song. Mr. William Anderson spent Thanksgiving weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson. Mrs. Wm. Rieck of Kitchener spent several days with Mrs. Tom Jardin, and visited other relatives . in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haines and family of Beamsville spent Thanks­ giving with his parents, Don and Lois Haines. Mrs. Elva Straughan of Huron­ view and Mrs. Bonnie Armour and Julie of Kitchener had Thanksgiv­ ing in Auburn with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin. Mrs. Ellen Johnston is now a resident of Huronview, and would love to have friends visit. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Craig and family of St. Jacobs spent the weekend at their trailer home at RR 3, Auburn and visited members of .heir families. ■ 61/2 OZ.
