It was cause for more than one double-take as Blyth’s Lois van Vliet and her slepder friend strolled down the main street recently. Mrs. van Vliet was decorating her store, The Saga, for Halloween, which is just around the comer. Blyth ■ I ■ . ■ ■ - People Mrs. Clara Rinn entertained, at dinner last Sunday, family mem­ bers: daughter Marjorie Rock and husband Keith and their two grandchildren of Egmondville; daughter Edith Rock of Monkton, and son John Rinn and family of Blyth. Dinner guests last Sunday of Bert and Flora Fear were their son Bill and Darlene and their children Leanne and Daniel of Wroxeter. Gary Manning of Toronto spent Thanksgiving weekendwith his parents, Bill and Thelma Mann­ ing. Terry Madill and family of Georgetown, joined his sisters Cheryl and Cathy and their families for Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday at thehome of their mother, Alma Madill. Guests of Melda McElroy on Thanksgiving day were former neighbours, Rev. Ted and Jayne Hoogsteen of Brantford. Five Blyth-area people returned last week from a three-week visit to the British Isles visiting England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland along the way. Mary and Lloyd Walden and Feme and Harve McDowell of Blyth and Erma Cook of RR 1, Belgrave along with Phyllis Boak of Lucknow took part in the tour. After three days in London they set off on a 17-day coach tour of the islands blessed with remarkably good weather for that time of the year. They headed southwest to Ply­ mouth where they saw the moors and cliffs and the ancient cobble­ stone streets, then went to Lands End, the farthest west point of England, then through Wales which they really enjoyed and off by ferry to Ireland. They travelled back to Scotland including a visit to the Isle of Skye where they saw an old, thatched roof cottage. Through Ireland and Scotland the fields were surrounded by stone fences or untrimmed hedges with plenty of sheep pasturing.
