Julie Howson, [left] received an Ontario scholarship, a W. D. Fair scholarship, a Centennial band Scholarship for Music and a Ruby Haddy Memorial Award for the Auxiliary of the Clinton Public Hospital. Ron Greidanus received the music award. Miners & D. Terpstra On Tuesday, September 13th, gradefourtoeightwere splitup into eight different teams. There are girls’ teams of two senior seven-eight and two junior four- five-six. There are two senior seven-eight and two junior four- five-six boys’ teams also. The names of the senior girls are the Party Animals and the other is undecided. In the senior boys the names are the Bad Boys and the Tornadoes. The junior girls names are the Blizzardsand Oddballs. The junior boys names are Demolition and Giants. The soccer games started September 15. The games are played at noon recess on week­ days. Londesboro people Continued from page 12 NEW STUDENTS by C. Earl and J. Vanass Two new people joined our school. They are Becky and Michael Joslin. Becky is in grade 3 and Michael is in kindergarten. We asked the Joslins what they thought of our school, and they both said it was a nice school. We wish them the best at this school. BRUSSELS FALL FAIR by K. Kerr and R. Veitch The Brussels Fall Fair was held on Wednesday, September 21, 1988. It was held at the Brussels, Grey and Morris Community Centre. The Queen of the Fair made a speech. Brussels won first prize from K-4 with best banner. Brussels won first prize from 5-8 with best banner. Grey Central won firstfor best costume from K-4. Brussels won first from 5-8 with best costume. Grey Central won first for marching for all grades. The events inside were a success. The Fair was fun. Grants to offset tax The Honourable Jack Riddell, Minister of Agriculture and Food and M.P.P. for Huron County, has announced that 18 municipalities in the county will receive a total of $1,373,462 in provincial funding under the Ontario Unconditional Grants Program. Speaking on behalf of the Honourable John Eakins, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Mr. Riddell said the following municipalities will receive these funds: Village of Bayfield $26,180; Village of Brussels $712; Township of Ashfield $144,596; Township of Colborne $78,945; Township of Goderich $208,054; Township of Grey $81,996; Township of Hay $79,800; Township of Howick $31,375; Township of Hullett $78,013; Township of McKillop $131,728; Township of Morris $51,218; Township of Stanley $95,791; Township of Stephen $181,211; Township of Tucker­ smith $53,469; Township of Turn­ berry $15,657; Township of Us- borne $78,472; Township of East Wawanosh $6,914; and Township of West Wawanosh $29,331. “Revisions to the county and school board cost-sharing arrange­ ments using a uniform assessment base have caused tax changes for some residential and farm rate­ payers within the County, ’ ’ Mr. Riddell said. “The funding being provided will assist those residen­ tial and farm ratepavers who he will soon his friends. Where the number of candidates for an office who are nominated at the end of nomination day is not sufficient to fill the number of vacancies, the clerk may receive additional nominations on OCTOBER 19, 1988, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The required nomination forms may be obtained from the clerk’s office and must be completed and filed with theclerk by the above deadline. Pursuant to an amendment to the Municipal Elections Act, every person who proposed to be a candidate for any office shall file a “NOTICE OF REGISTRATION” before any campaign contributions are accepted or any expenses incurred.
