The Londesboro, Bly th and Walton areas were well represented among winners of awards by grade 12 students at the annual Commencement ceremonies at Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton Friday night. Among the winners were: Don Baan, auto mechanics theory and auto mechanics practical welding and the West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Co. Ltd. award; Jeremy Ten Hag, W. D. Fair scholarship and grade 12 scholars award; Christina Roulston, French award; Fred Peel, West Wawanosh Mutual Award. Missing for the picture were Elaine Poore, mathematics award and scholar’s award; Brian Raidt, general proficiency in visual arts and Wendy Raidt, senior award for proficiency in visual arts. Happy Gang hold dinner The September meeting of the Happy Gang Seniors opened the new season with a pot luck dinner at 12 o’clock. The meeting opened with “0 Canada”. Audrey Thompson thanked everyone for the help she received during the two years she was President. The new President is Clara Riley who took over the meeting. She read ‘‘Ten Com­ mandments for Seniors”. Margar- etGood read the minutes of the May meeting. Hazel Reid gave the treasurer’sreport. Rollcall was taken. Marg Good reported on the June meeting which was a picnic. The Fall Rally is Oct. 14 at Exeter Legion Hall. Admission is $3 per person. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is at 3:30 p.m. The Legion Hall is at 316 William St. South. An Alzheimers Workshop will be held at Goderich on November 9. The cost is $25. Membership fees of $2 per person were paid. June Fothergill gave her report of Senior Games in Brampton. Clara closed the meet­ ing with apoem on autumn leaves. A vote of thanks was given to Audrey. Seven tables of euchre were played with these results: men’s high, Hazel Reid (playing as a man); men’s lone hands, Elsie People On Monday, September 26 a one-day bus trip to Hockley Hills was enjoyed. The tour was conduc­ ted by Marg Burkhart of Daybreak Tours. Thoseonthetourhada lovely view of the changing leaves. Places of interest were the Tai Chi Center and the Cistercian Monastery in the Orangeville area. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston of Fenelon Falls visited with Jean Scott last week. ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO BE ELECTED FOR A THREE YEAR TERM. ELECTORS ARE HEREBY REQUIRED to take notice and govern themselves accordingly and further take notice that the manner in which the said nominations shall be filed is set forth in the Municipal Elections Act. Ushers were Cheri Taylor, Kerry Szusz, Joanne Wilts and Melanie Knox. A Bible was presented to Steven Stewart on his ninth birthday. The Senior Youth Group was to meet on Thursday, Oct. 6from 6:30 to8:30 p.m. Members should wear old clothes and bring flashlight. If it rains, the meeting will be held at Church. Bible Study is on Wednes­ day, Oct. 7 at 1:15 p.m. at the Snihurs. Choir practice is Wednes­ day, Oct. 7 at 7:15 p.m. Burns U. C. W. will meet on Wednesday at Clara Riley’s. Explorers will meet after school on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Church. Flowers were in memory of Jean Leiper. It was Communion Sun­ day. The sermon topic was ‘‘The One We Have in Common”.
