A four-point performance by the
Bulls’ Ron Strome led Brussels to
their first victory of the pre-season,
a 6-4 win over Seaforth Sunday
afternoon.
KevinTalsma’s point shot assis
ted by Nigel Taylor and Bill
Kinahan followed by a Ron Strome
goal from Brian Campbell quickly
gave the Bulls an early lead.
However, Seaforth regrouped and
rallied to tie the score at the end of
20 minutes.
A powerplay effort by Marty
Rutledge from Strome and Camp
bell with three minutes remaining
in the second period returned the
lead to the Bulls. Strome’s second
of the day a minute later from
Kinahan gave the Bulls a 4-2 lead
after 40 minutes.
Seaforth opened the scoring
early in the third, but Rutledge’s
second from Talsma and Jason
Coulter, followed by a Kinahan
score from Strome gave the Bulls a
comfortable three-goal lead. Sea
forth scored on the powerplay late
in the game to end the scoring
summary.
A strong performance was given
by the Strome-Campbell-Kinahan
line as they combined for a
nine-point game. As well Jeff
McGavin and Murray Townsend
gave the Bulls solid goaltending,
especially McGavin who gave the
Juniors the spark they needed with
some excellent saves early in the
game.
The Bulls will be travelling to
.Ayton on Sunday for a rematch
with the Hanover Jr. C. Barons.
Also a rematch with Seaforth is
being planned before the Bulls
season opener in Mitchell October
