Conservatory announces results As part of its Legion Week celebrations, Blyth Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion presented a cheque for $500 to the Blyth Festival building fund last week. Accepting the cheque for the Festival were directors, Amber Underwood and Helen Go wing. Legion President, John Battye and treasurer, Donna Govier made the presentation. Results of the practical examina­ tions for piano, guitar and violin conducted by the Royal Conserva­ tory of Music at Blyth in June have recently been announced. Orchestra London holds Festival Orchestra London and the Grand Theatre will hold London’s Third Annual Beethoven Festival, Wed­ nesday, September 28 and Friday, September 30 at the Grand Thea­ tre. Both concerts will commence at 8 p.m. Internationally acclaimed pian­ ist Anton Kuerti returns to London, adding his “intelligent and fiery’’ interpretations of Beethoven’s works to the talents of Orchestra London’s new principal conductor, Uri Mayer. Mr. Kuerti has toured extensively through Europe and North America; performing with some of the world’s most famous conductors and orchestras. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Kuerti is one of the few pianists to have mastered and recorded all 32 of Beethoven’s sonatas. Ticket prices range from $14.50 to $20.50 for a single concert and from $22.00 to $31.00 to a subscription to both concerts.
