Brussels People Compiled by Marilyn Hip pins Call887-9089 Charlie Turnbull returned to his home in Edmonton last week after relatives and friends in Brussels and Goderich. Jack Kerr of Montreal (and formerly of Brussels) visited friends in Brussels last Friday. Visiting with Isabelle and Bob Wheeler are their niece Jeanette Smith and her friend Rick Garvin of Calgary. A Bon Voyage party was held for Warren Wray at the Richards’ home on September 6. Warren has now left for Australia on an OMAF farm exchange programme. He will be there for a year living with a family and working on their farm at Carsbrook, Victoria. A large toy kangaroo borrowed especially for the occasion and holding a Cana­ dian flag greeted the guests as they arrived. There were friends of all ages in attendance and Warren received many helpful travel tips. Robert Richards of Victoria, B.C. visited his mother Sheila Richards before Labour Day week­ end and also spent several days at the family cottage in Muskoka with Jane and Douglas Richards of Ailsa Craig. Joanne and Bill King and Raymond and Jacqueline Gowdy attended World Book’s Interna­ tional Achievement Conference in Chicago from August 31 through September 4 with 3,000 other World Book sales people. Joanne spoke to a group of representatives on “How I Get It Done”, referring to the Time Management and Top Priorities. Angela Nethery was crowned as the new Queen by retiring Queen of the Fair, Karla King of Brussels, who said that the outcome of the closely-fought contest was just as she had predicted. ‘‘Ijustknew that Angela was going to win! ” Miss King said, adding that she had also been correct in predicting the evening’s other two winners as well.
