Cars bring memories of days gone by There’s something about the cars of your youth that brings back memories, and every year more people at the Thresher Reunion can experience the nostalgia. The number of old cars at the reunion continues to grow, hitting about 65 last year, according to Bill Crawford of Clinton, chairman of the car displays. And the number of cars bringing back memories will continue to increase because all cars over 30 years old are considered classics which means that many of those traditional 1950’s cars like the 1955 Thunderbird and the 1957 and 1958 Chevies Classic cars are a passion for many of the more than 60 people who show cars at the Thresher Reunion. They bring back old memories to the show ’s visitors too. on the occasion of the 27th Annual Thresher Reunion 77 Albert St., CLINTON We Have Imported RUSTFREEGASTANKS from Florida 482-7770 now qualify for showing. The auto show brings a lot of interest, Mr. Crawford says, adding one more dimension to the Thresher Reunion that has interesting things for so many different people. A prize is given out each year for the best pre-World War II automobile. It brings out some beautiful cars like tbe 1932 Desota of Murray Hall of Wingham that won the trophy last year or the 1907 Cadillac of Burton Pinder of Paisley the year before. Every year such outstanding cars turn up but he seldom knows in advance, Mr. Crawford says, which cars will be on display. The cars just turn up, are registered and get tags in their windows to make them eligible for the judging. Besides registering the cars, Mr. Craw ford’s job involves making sure there are judges on hand to choose the trophy winner. Although he enjoys old cars himself, Mr. Crawford isnot a collector or restorer.
