The new executive held a meeting August 15 to discuss problems which have already arisenandgetorganized for the upcoming season. The increase in ice rental from $40/hour to $42 posed a problem in determining registration fees. The previous year also saw a $2/hour increase, but since no notification was made, the registration fees were not increased. This year registra tion fees had to be increased enough to cover last year’s finan cial loss as well as this year’s substantial increase. It was decided to have Registra tion earlier this year, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 8 and 9. It is essential that those interested in playing hockey or ringette register at this time so that ice time can be reserved and coaches and trainers can take the required courses. It was also decided that a $10 penalty be charged for those who fail to either register or pay by a certain date as well as a strict policy of a player’s registration being paid before they are allowed on the ice. It was felt that the skate and equipment exchange was held too early last year, so it will be held at a later date on Thursday and Friday evenings, Oct. 13 and 14 with equipment to be brought in and registered on Thursday and to be purchased on the Friday. It was also decided that a 10 per cent commission will be charged to help pay for the costs of running the exchange. At one time Brussels Minor Hockey had a good Saturday morning Houseleague, but the past two years there has been no Houseleague due to lack of inter est. Houseleague is for those boys andgirlswhowouldliketoplay hockey just for fun, without travelling, and is held for an hour on Saturday morning. It will be re-established if enough people register. Ringette wasalsocan- celled last year due to lack of players, so girls - get out and register. Referee clinics will be held in Mitchell and Brussels in October. Anyone interested in making extra money refereeing should contact Neil Beuerman for more informa tion. Fundraising will again be asking players and their family to sell chocolate barsand will again be selling cases of juice as well as other fundraising efforts. The next meeting will be held Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. at the Brussels Hotel. These meetings are open to all interested parents and persons.
