The Decembermeeting of
the U.C.W. was in the form
of a pot luck dinner at the
church on Monday evening
with about thirty in attend-
ance. Grace was sung and
everyone enjoyed the bounti-
ful smorgasbord.
Mt. Cowan conducted a
sing song for which Jean
Elliott played the piano,
Amy Wiggins conducted a
short business meeting dur-
ing which a motion was made
to make a surn of money
available to the stewards
before the end of this year.
Three films were shown,
ene illustrating some of the
Christmas carols; one telling
the story of Madeline Rober-
Who was marooned on
Devil's Island in the St.
Lawrence in the fifteenth
century and lastly a canoe
race in B.C. to commemorate
their centennial in.1971.
Diane Park thanked the
U.C.W. on behalf of the
Willing Workers who were
guests. The meeting was
adjourned with thZ benedic-
tion by Mr. Cowan.
Church service at Dungan-
non United*Church was can-
celled on Sunday due to
weather and road conditions.
BROOKSIDE BROADCAST

This week has been a busy
one for our school. Concert
practice has been going on
throughout the week. The
grade eights have been work-
ing hard to make props to
make this event a success.
The Theatre Go Round
from Petrolia presented the
play, "My lleart A Drum",
for grades kindergarten to
grade three. The children
were taught how to particip-
ate and enjoyed it very much.
Some of the students part-
icipated in the Knights of
Columbus basketball Free
Throw.
Mr. Dick, the Guidance
Conselldr from ' poderich,
came on Thursday'. to speak
to the grade eight students
who will be going to G. .C.I.
this coming fall. Grade nine
night is to be held on January
13th for the rural students.
Grades four and five visit-
ed the glyth Theatre to hear
the Huggett Family choir
Friday. This featured music-
al instruments and music
from four hundred years ago.
The children liked the cos-
tumes they wore and the
demonstrations of how to
play the instruments.
"Snow White and the
Seven . Dwarfs" was put on
by Lucknow School grades 1 -
4 on Thursday. Brookside
Kindergarten to grade 3
pupils travelled to the Luck-
now School to see it. Several
other schools were invited
too. Teachers and students
frern Brookside appreciated
the invitation and enjoyed
the fine presentation.
