Thunder and snow. storm unusual
Last Tues., Dec. 2,198Q,
was a remarkable day in This week in regard to weather. In- •
• the morning it was a nice
mild day outside and
continued this way till
late .afternoon: By five
'O'clock freezing rain and
sleet had swept over the
area ' making the
sidewalks and reads very
slippery. Also it was very
cold with a strong. •north
wind blowing. Then came
the snow flurries, By
Supper time in the middle
of the snow storm there
were sharp ligtning
flashes and the roll of
thunder. The Wingham
teleVision and F1V1102
- transmission, was
knocked out leaving
C.K,N.X. radio the sole
source of local in-
formation. Around 8 p.m.
there were whiteouts with
zero visibility. The
Goclerich O.P.P. were
advising everyone to stay
off the roads. The winds
were 50 miles per hour -
never, mind the kilometre
bit. As a result buses
coming from London
were stopped in Goderich
and Clinton. Ripley folks
were stranded in
Goderich and Wingham.
After midnight Joe

street and others were
able to drive home from
the B.N.P.D. Then it
seems every morning and
night since then there has
been pea soup fog outside
making motoring
hazardous. Over 'the
weekend did it ever rain
and then more 'snow is to .
