In the race for council seats in Kinloss
Township, David Gibb topped the polls with.^
a. total of .366 votes; David, Eadie followed
closely with 356, George McBride had 307'
and -Bill Haidenby, 301. Kathleen Forster-
`was defeated in her bid for a 'seat on council
with 241. FlaIdenhy is the new, councillor.

lor; Joe Hickey was defeated in his bid for
the deputy-reeve's chair - by newcomer,
Gordon Brindley. It, was a close run with
Brindley capturing 210 'votes to• Hickey's
198.
In the village of Auburn three trustees
were elected from a field of fog. Andrews
received 88 votes, Schneider took 87, Powell
won. 44 and Harrison tallied 30.
In the race, for reeve of }Junin Township,
Bert Elliott defeated Cecil Sutton by a vote of
451 to 413:-For council, ElineeSiiieltier took
676 votes, Harry Crellin, 571, James

There was an upset in the election for
Bruce County School, Board trustee to
'represent Culross and Kinloss Townships
and the villages of Lucknow and Teeswater,
*hen the voters went to the polls in
Monday's municipal election.
Alma Conn-Armstrong defeated the itt-
•'',cumbeot board member and former board - ,
Chairman, Lloyd Ackert by
votes -to Ackert'S 364.
COnn-Armstroog, a veterinary, from Cul-
ross Township, defeated the ''incumbent in
each of the municipalities she will represent
on the, board. In CulrOss, the votes tallied
Armstrong,:113; Ackert, 30; in Ineknow,
Armstrong, 122; Ackert, 83, Teeswater

The Lucknow Legion Hall was filled to
capacity on Satiirday night, November 8th
for the annual Remembrance Banquet and
Dance.

was, assisted by Legion Padre, George
Garratt, 1st vice president, George Whitby
and 2iid vice president, Eldon Bradley.
Guests present included representatives
from the municipalities of• Lucknow, West
Wawanosh, Kinloss and Ashfield, Murray
Cardiff M.P., HUron-Bruce and Murray
Gaunt, M.P.P. Huron-Bruce. Each spoke
briefly,
Past President, Russel Whitby, presented
25 year pins to Ellison Hodgins, Charlie
McQuillin; 30 year pins to Kelso McNay,
Sam Matthews; 35 year pins to Bob
McIntosh and Clare Johnstone.
Auxiliary President, Mrs. Joan Robinson,
presented a cheque for $500 to • Bragh
president, Eldon.:Mann, to assist them in
their community work.
World War I veterans and wives present
were recognized. President Eldo presented

The main feature of the evening 'was' the
playing of a recording which was hi keeping
with the theme of Remembrance. Prior to it
being played for the enjoyment of those
present, Comrade Bud Thompson provided
this background information concerning its

Goderich. About five years ago, Theresa*
father who was a veteran of World War II".
died in Sunnybrooke Hospital, Toronto, after
having been a patient there for 1% years.
The emotional impact of his death on this
young girl 18 years of age, coupled with her
observations of the suffering and courage of
her father and the other veteran patients ,
inspired Theresa to compose this thought
provoking song. It was pointed out that this
was not a protest song, such as • were
common in the United States during the
latter stages of the Vietnam war.
