passing back and forth
through Ripley as they
endeavour to supervise
this big area which thek,
Farewell party
On Thursday evening of
last week, Oct. 23, 1980,
the ladies of the ,Legion
Auxiliary held 'a farewell
party and presentation in ,
'the Ripley Huron Legion
hall for one of their
members Mrs, Elsie
Forrester of Malcolm
Street. Mrs. Forrester
expects to be moving this,
corning Saturday. Nov. 1
to her new apartment in
OshaWa. The-first part of
the party was , spent as.

Wires shorted out
Last Friday evening
Oct. 24, the fire whistle
sounded in Ripley. Ripley
firemen :took the truck to
the farm of Mr.. and Mrs.
Bob Blackwell, the for-
mer 'Bowers homestead,
two blocks south of
Ripley where it is
reported that wires had
shorted at a pole. The
Ontario Hydro truck .at
Walkerton was called.
Tree trimming
Last week from
Tuesday to Friday the
red PUC, truck from
Kincardine was in.
Ripley. With , it were John
Adams, Earl Kay and
Ken H 90 ver replacing
burned out light bulbs
along the streets and
doing tree trimming of
trees to prevent hydro
shorts in the coming
winter. They also cut
down the last, remaining
sugar maple tree in Gore
Park, It was partly dead
from' this DIE BACK
disease which has, been
killing. the Sugar maples
along the Ripley streets;,

back in Ripley.

Last Friday evening.
Allan Coiling took his
mother, Mrs, John
Coiling Ripley,, to
Kincardine and District
Hospital. Here it was
found that Mrs. Coiling
had a broken -left_ wrist
suffered in a fall at her
home and she would
likely be in the hospital
for a few days,
Bazaar and tea
Last Saturday af-
ternoon the ladies of St.
Andrews United Church
in Ripley held their an-
nual bazaar and tea in the
church basement. It was
well attended. , Tables
loaded with articles in
crafts such as. knitting,
sewing • and c'rocheting,
with plants and
_vegetables, and with
jams and baking were
placed around the walls
of the Sunday School
room with the inner part
for the tea 'tables. What-
lovely things they had for
sale and what fine baking
especially those loaves of
fresh sweet home baked
bread. They also had an
opportunity table and
much much more as the
posters stated.

last Friciay evening 'on
the weekly, radio report
on C.K.N.X. listing those
'shipping top priced cattle
at the Ontario Livestock
Yards in Toronto, Allan
shipped a cow for Wally.
Pollock which topped the
market •in that class,

Last Wednesday there
was a quick response to
the item in this column,,
about.those extra tulip
bulbs from the flower bed
at the horne of Harvey
and Sally Pollock in
Ripley. By the middle of
the afternoon they were

the bulbs were picked up
by Jim and Nellie
McCully, • R: R. 1, Kin- .
distributed to folks in
Bruce township,
cardine township, Kin-
cardine and Ripley. Fran
received:."several calls
after they were all gone.

visiting at their home in
Ripley.
