The Education and Cultur-
al 'Activities Meeting. of
Whitechurch W.I. was held
October 8 in the Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall
with Mrs. James Wilson
hostess.
The meeting opened with
the president, Mrs. Agnes.
Farrier, presiding. She ex-
tended a warm welcome to
the guests from Lucknow,
Holyrood and Teeswater.
The minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. Alan Fal-
coner.
Delegates to the Rally are
Miss Merle Wilson, Mrs.
McGuire, Mrs. Agnes Far-
rier and others. The quilt to
be quilted was mentioned.
The roll call was answered by
showing a souvenir of a trip
and explaining it.
The motto, One vOho ceas-
es to learn ceases to live, was
given by Mrs. Johnston
Conn. The Holyrood number,
Caleb!s-Courtship, was given__
by Mrs. Doris Eadie. Luck-
now's two numbers were
given by Mrs. Harvey Web-
ster, singing a solo and ac-
companying herself on the
piano.
Mrs. Catherine Wilson in-
troduced the guest speaker,
Florence Grant of Teeswater
who showed slides and gave
a talk on Australia which she
had toured, The films of the
trees, flowers and piend
were very beautiful. Mrs.
Russel McGuire presented
Miss Grant with a gift and
thanked her on behalf of the
Institute.
Mrs. McGuire, after' the
closing numbers, presented
half of the attenders, with
questions of the Institute and
the answers were held by the
other half. In this way all
were mixed for lunch. Mrs.
McGuire then had the ques-
tions asked and answered to
see all were correct.. Lunch
was served. There was an at-
tendance of 42,

The October meeting of
the Whitechurch U.C.W.
was held at, the manse at
Bluevale on Thursday, Oct-
ober 2.
Mrs. Muriel Thompson
gave a reading, Up to the
Minute. Mrs. Russel Chap-
man led in prayer. Mrs. Dave
Gibb read the scripture. Mrs.
Chapman read the minutes
and a thank you note from
Mr. and Mrs, g. W. Beecroft
and family.
Mrs. Muriel Chapman,
Mrs. Dave Gibb and Mrs.
Chapman gave an account on
how the large corporations
exploit the poor working
