Promote Huron
I.
A Huron advertising agency has pres-
ented a package of promotional ideas to
Huron County Connell aimed at using the
county's promotional dollars more wisely to
attract industry to Huron and• to promote the•
benefits of the county for tourists.
-Caracia
Ltd., Exeter, Points out that the county must
become more professional in, its promotion of
the county and must design an overall plan
for all of its promotional activities.
Adrian Bayley, representing Agripress,
told county council at their September 29
Meeting that his agency believes display
advertising National or International
publications is an expensive way to promote
the county and even though the county
receives many enquiries, few are converted
into sales.
The county has; been advertising in such
publications in the past in an attempt to
attract industry to Huron and create .more
jobs.
The promotional ideas presented by Mr.
Bayley include an eight-page tabloid news-
paper to stimulate interest in Huron County
as a good place -Co locate a business or fight
industry. It would also promote the attract-
iveness of Huron as a home and vacation site

The Luicknow and District Branch of the
Arthritis Society has raised $2,100 during a
recent successful campaign, to be used for
the Canadian Arthritis Society's program of
research and education.
Only 8 per cent of the campaign funds is
used, for administrative purposes. Of the .214
awards made in Canada last year by the
community rather than a collection of
self-interested communities. He explained
that this does not mean each incorporated
town or village would be ignored, but the
overall impact:should be one of co-operation
between areas rather than conipetition.
Someone interested in locating in the •county
should be convinced of the advantages of a
general area, the entire county before he
looks for a specific site.
Specific aspects of Huron County such as
parks, tourism, heritage, history, service
Bayley concluded 'by pointing out- the
presentation includes ideas which can be put
together as total campaign or run individ-
ually according to time. and budget. He
recommended the tabloid be undertaken
before the end of 1980 so the agency would
have a full year to distribute it. He
suggested the program be adopted over a
period until the end of 1981 which would
petmit all the ideas to be included in the
campaign Within a $25,000,budiet.
