The first Meeting of the
Clover Valley Pig-Out, Pals
was held on Saturday, Sept-
ember 13, 1980 at Mrs., Joyce
glphick's home.'

Mary, wearing a self-styl-
, ed gown of silk jersey and
lace, was attended by her
sister Ruth as maid-of-hon-
our and Lois A. Johnson of
Toronto, as bridesmaid.-Ruth
and Lois wore similarly styl-
ed dresses_of dusky .-rose-
crepe. --
Best man was Kenneth J.
Springman of London.
Groomsman was Ross A.
Johnston of Thunder Bay.
The wedding music was
provided by the bride's four
brothers, James D. of Fene-
Ion Falls, John W. of Ottawa,
Thomas A. and Robert S.
Henderson of Lucknow. As
the congregation sang,
"Praise My Soul the King of
Heaven" by Goss, accom-
panied by John at the organ,
Jim at the piano and Rob on
the saxophone, the bride
entered the church with her
father. During the signing of
the register Rob accompan-
ied by John sang, "0 Perfect
Love" by Barnby: Tom on
the trombone accompanied
Jim andjohn as they render-
ed the recessional, "Trump-
et Voluntary in D, Major", by
Purcell.
During the prelude flautist
Ross A. Johnston played,
"Ave Marie", by Gounod.
Ushers were James D.,
Thomas A., and Robert S.
Henderson, and Ross A.
Johnston.
A garden reception was
• held at the bride's home.
Mary, a registered nurse,
is a graduate in Nursing
Science from Lakehead Uni-
versity, Thunder Bay, and
has been employed at the
Port 'Arthur General Hospit-
al. She alsc; has a degree, in
Arts from the Universit3 ‘of
Western Ontario.
Bob graduated in iduca-
tion from Lakehead Univer-
sity and is an honours grad-
uate from there in Health
and Physical Education.
Bob and Mary are residing
in McBride, British Colum-
bia, where Mary will be on
the Nursing Staff of the
McBride District and Gener-
al Hospital, and Bob will be
on the Teaching Staff of the
McBride Secondary School.
Parents of the bride and
groom are Mr. and Mrs.
James R. Henderson; Luck-
now, and Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Betkus, ,London, Ont-
ario.
The second meeting lof the
Kairshea Galloping Gour-
mets was held at the home of
Mrs. Kathy Howald on Sept-
ember 25. The minutes of the
last meeting were read by
secretary, Linda Vander
Klippe.
Mary Ann Ritchie suggest-
ed the name, Kairshea Gal-
loping Gourmets, for the
group. This name was quick-
ly adopted by all members.
Nancy Haldenby and Mary
Ann Ritchie are on the com-
mittee for preparing the
covers for the members'
books. Money, to pay for
food costs, was accepted by
Katrina Howald.
Mrs. Flowald began dis-
cussing Mexican Fare with

Leaders of CGIT, Explor-
ers and COC from the
I'd-Counties (Bruce, Huron,
Perth) met at Lucknow Pres-
byterian church for .a Work-
shop on Saturday, Septem-
ber 27. The theme was Be
Yourself,. Be Available, Be
Flexible.
Lynne Longmuir, the 'area
educational consultant with
the' Presbyterian church op-
ened with thoughts on the
theme and scripture.. from
Ephesians 4:11. §136 led
three Workshops during the
day. •
Instructions were given on
what is and how to do Role
Play with, everyone particip-
ating. ,New ideas involving
all group menibers were
tried for informal Worship.
Co-operative rather than
competitive games were in-
traduced and., the Music
workshop gave' help to the
not-so-talented. -
Leaders discussed prob-
lem solving within the group
and leadership. qualities. A
large display of, resonrce
materials was available for
browsing and, for sale.
The day closed With a list-
ening worship and Taps.
the members. Nancy Halden-
by and Joanne de Boer were
set to work preparing the
dough for Tacos. Mrs. Rit-
chie described some metric
measures to the younger
girls. She also showed a food
processor and explained how
it is used, She followed up
with a discussion on'safety of
small appliances.
Mrs. Ritchie then showed
a recipe file that each
member is responsible for
completing.
The dough was now ready
to be shaped for tacos so
each member, with the help
of the leaders, prepared their
taco shell.. While these were
being fried, the filling was
made involving all members.
Mrs. Mame Wilkins in-
troduced the club ,to the girls
and Otey were told 'their re
quirements and that Novem-
ber 15, '1980 is the date of
their Achievement,Day. Mrs.
WilkinS also discussed Ener-
gy -ConservatiOn, Mrs. El-
phick discussed and demon-
strated stir-frying, 'an age-
old Chinese cooking tech;
nique in a recipe of Chinese
Style Porlt.
