Finally the first. aid room
was filled with girls from
this other town and Dr.
J.B. 'Tindall had to come
to the school to treat one.
No doubt, with this idea
in mind, the kindergarten
classes of Mrs. Betty
Elliott were left out.
Right now, it looks like
several " hundred dollars
will be collected.

Last Wednesday af^

after classes were:kis Wee ff
diSmisSed, the girls and
boys - of Grades' 1 to. 6
inclusive from the Ripley
Huron Central school,
reallycovered the village
;with enthusiasm. One
knock at the .door was
soon followed by another,
reminiscent of
Hallowe'en. Only this
time each carried their
pledge sheet for the run-
a-thon for Terry Fox and
his Marathon of Hope far
funding cancer research.
In charge of the Ripley
Huron Central run-a-thon
is Gracie 2 , teaeher Tim
Price. Mr. Price
discussed the idea with...
school principal George
Armstrong and with his
approval, proceeded to
set up program.
The students do their
running'at recesses and
noon hours around the
•- perimeter of-the- school--
grounds. When they
make two laps around,
they take their cards to
one of the three student
scorers and get a star on
it. The two laps equal one
kilometre or a little more
than a half mile.
This running will end
this" Friday. Then the
pledges will be calculated
and the money collected.
Some folks who prefer
making outright
donations have already
done so..
About 250 students are
involved and the staff of
12 teachers in the
calculations:
It is hoped that girls

too enthusiastic and do

young and perhaps some
