Herb Wilkins held the regular meeting of the Trinity United Church Wom en on the evening of Sept- ember 11 at her home. Miss Isobel Miller opened her home for the U.C.W. meeting at St. Helens on September 9. There were eight ladies and one 'child present. Mrs. Helen Todd opened Mrs..,John Hunter led the de- votion, reading the scripture, Mrs. Charles Wilkins gave the meditation cloiing with a prayer by Mrs. Hunter. ° Mrs. Chester Hackett read dieneril ,left# from., mission Japan "O the. Live Love Project, Mrs, Charles Wilkins in- troduced the guest, Mrs. Edwards, Goderich, who the meeting with a. poem. Miss Isobel Miller read the scripture. Mrs. Helen Todd ' gave the meditation and Mrs. Janet McPherson the topic. Mrs, Janet Cook, a very 0 showed pictures of her trip to Africa this summer, showing places in H011and and Eng- land. Mrs, Alex Hackett thanked Mrs. Edwards and presented her with a gift, Iis; Wilkins spole on the' ellowshtp Club to be held at the manse 'slatting the third, Sunday of October, for an- other year. The roll call, a highlight of the summer, was answered by 11 members an'd one guest. Plans were made for the fair , and the Fall Con- ference for JUnior Itititutes was discussed. Mrs_. Weber then discus- sed stir-frying, woks, frying pan's', -energy conservation, and watts. The members were then taught how to read a meter, and how to calculate a kilowatt hour. Mrs. Weber demonstrated how to use a french knife and the wok. The members then helped to prepare Chinese Style Pork and rice. This was something new to try, and was enjoyed by all. _ 'Ettiabetirlritin—introdueed--- the guest speaker, Fran Elphick, who showed flOwer arranging. Each worked on her'own arrangement and some were more successful than others. Mintues were read by Mrs. Laurine McQuillin and the treasurer's report by Mrs. J. McPherson.. The purchase of church calendars and a. study packet were disiussed. Anniversary, service preparations for> Sep- tember .28, were discussed and plans Made for flowers and lunch. Plans were made for the October meeting and the meeting closed with prayer. Mrs. Laurine McQuillin served a dainty lunch after Grace was sung.
