ant held Saturday evening at the Lucknow
District Community Centre.
Lois Hanna, Kinloss Townthip, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hanna, will
represent the Lucknow Society in the
annual Miss Midwestern Ontario pageant
to be held at the Lucknow Fall Fair this
weekend, She will attend the annual con-
vention of the Ontario Agricultural Societ-
ies this winter and next August she will
represent LucknOw Fair in the Queen of the
Fairs competition at the Capadian National'
Exhibition.
Lois is a grade 12 student who plans a
career in art therapy, working with emo-
tionally disturbed children. Interested 'in
drama, she played a character role in the
Madill production of Anne of Green Gables
a year ago and last year she was producer
for the school drama club's, production of.
Oklahoma. She is coaching the Madill
cheerleaders this year and is activities
officer on the students' council. Lois is alsor4
a member of the Lucknow School Concert
Band.
First runnerup was Mary Ann Ritchie,
17, Kinloss Township, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Ritchie and the second
runnerup 'was Denise King, Wingham,
' 19-year-old daughter of Mr.• and Mrs.
Ernie King.
Contestants included Cindy Campbell,
18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Campbell of East Wawariosh Township;
Susan Bain, 17, daughter of Mr, and Mrs.

Miss Murray,- said they would use the

Complain About Racing Cars
Councillors have received complaints of
cars racingup Havelock. Street. The Kincar

councillors they tell residents to call and
report such incidents, If a: cruiser is not in
town at the time, it is possible a car is nearby
and can catch the culprits as they are leaving
town. Incidents should be reported to the •

A Ripley man is in fair condition in
VVingham and. District Hospital folloWing
car fire 'Monday afternoon.
Walter Thompson, 85, was .sitting in his
daughter's car in the driveway of her home
in Ripley, when, the interior of the car caught
fire.. Mr. Thompson's granddaughter, Betty
Jean McLean, noticed Mr. Thompson trying
to get out of the car and ran to assist him.
She rolledhim in a blanket to smother the
fire in his clothes.
Mr. Thompson suffered burns to his head,
arm and thigh.
.Ripley. District Fire Department was called
to thescene about 1.45 p.m. and brought the
fire under ctintroljhe interior of the car was
destroyed. -Firemen suspect smoking may
have caused the fire.
Man charged
No one was injured in an accident'
September 7 when two vehicles collided on
highway 86, about 3 miles west of Lucknow,
James Pentland of Lucknow was driving
westbound on highway 86, when a car driven
by Donald Boak attempted to pass the
Pentland vehicle on the rigid shoulder. In
doing so, the Boak vehicle struck the right
rear corner of the Pentland vehicle. liciak
failed to stop and was subsequently located
elsewhere a short time later.
He has been charged with failing to ,
rani n at the scene of -the -aecident and
driving without a valid licence.
Damage is estimated at approximately
$875.
LoisHanna 17, of 'Kinloss Township, was crowned Miss Lucknow Fall Fair at the
LucknOw Agricultural Society's annual pageant Saturday evening. She received her title
and crown from last year's queen, Joan Hamilton of London. The daughter of Mr. and .
Mrs.. Ernie Hanna, Lois will represent the Lucknow Agricultural Society in the Miss
Midwestern Ontario pageant to be held in conitmedon with the Lucknow Fall Fair this
weekend. She will also participate In the Queen of the Fairs pageant to be held at the
