recent Dungannon 125th
birthday eelebrations in Dtin-
on waste ground, sharing my
garden, speaking • here,
speaking there, writing . of
this, and that, anything to
' give our people a bit of a lift.
Then one day, I thought,'
"Why not twin our Dungan-
non, the Most bombed small,
• town in plster,.with
non in. Ontario?" ' they
think of us with kindness; it's
botind to do good. No sooner
said than thine. I wrote at
once off into the blue and hit
a jackpot. • .
My letter was published
not in Dungannon itself but
in its neighbours Lucknow
andtoderieli and brought an
avalanche of replies,. from
Diingannen's postmistress of
40 years, now retired, from
farmers' wives and jotitnal-
, Janet. MacKenzie, wife of.
the the late Duncan Iyfaccotifiell
passed suddenly. on -
Tuesday, August 19th, 1980
after, suffering a heart attack
'She had just Celebrated
• her 82nd birthday with rela=
tives and friends, the previ
ous Sunday at the home of
her daughter arid son-in-law,
Mary and_Herb. Buckton.
She was born in Kincar-
dine Township August 15th,
1898, the daughter of Mur-
dock MacKenzie .and Cather-
ine MacLeod
In 1917 she married Dun-
can MacConnell of Kinloss
Township, where they lived
before retiring to Lucknow in
1955.
After her nusband's death,
she was employed at Bruce-
lea Haven. in' Walkerton, and
on retirement from there,
she moved to. Mildmay.-
She is. . survived by •one
daughter, Mary, Mrs. Herb
Buckton of Kinloss' Town-
ship; one granddaughter,
Marion, Mrs. John Mowbray
of Ashfield ToWnShip, and
one grandson, Dr. William
Buckton of Waterloo, three
great grandsons, George. and
David Buckton of Waterloo,
and Duncan Mowbray of
Aihfield, one brother,
George MaCKenzie Of Kin-
cardine, and one sister, Mrs:
George Ibbotson of Kincar-
dine.
The funerril was held at the
MacKenzie and MeCreath
Funeral HOme, Lucknow,
Eriday, August 22, 1980 at 1
p.m. Rev. Yaim Park of
. Mildrnay United Church of-
-ficiated, assisted by 'Res.,:
Wm. Munshaw of South
Kinloss. The soloist was Mr;
Frank MacKenzie, who sang

The pallbearers were Tom
Detzler, George " Detz1er,
Frank Edgar,' Donald Mac-
lntyre, Lloyd McNall and
Frank MadKenzie. Friends
said, listing days of high
jinks and, entertainment;

shouldn't afford the journey
at this time, not With infla-
tion. going up and .up and the
future so Uncertain. But
when it seemed,that no one
else would go from here, I
had to say yes, didn't I? I
