These! games included an August 7, $ - 4 win over Clinton Sluggers which was a true pitching duel. Very. sel- dom are so few runs scored in a women's fastball game and Lucknow's Judy Draper deserves special mention for Lucknow Noisy Ladies have been busy lately play- ing in three tournaments in the last month in addition to their regular schedule. The most recent was this past weekend when they took part in the annual Sportsfest Weekend 'held in Goderich this yeat. The Lucknow team played a total of five games in two days, winning three and losing two. In doing so were the B division runners- Their first game was against Elmwood which end- ed in a 7 - 7 deadlock after nine . innings.. Because of time limitations only, two extra innings were allowed and the game was decided by counting runners left on base throughout the final two overtime innings. The local team lost out by four runners to two, resulting in the ladies dropPing,back to the' consolation B round. Nett game was against Lis-towel Aboutowners With Lucknow winning by a score of 6 - 4 with Barb Helm driving in the tying_ and winning, runs in a late inning rally. Next opponent was At- wood Angels in a game which was called after five innings with Lucknow ahead by a score of 26 - 7. Atwood pitchers gave up a total of 16 walks to Lucknow' batters in the game which also featured a Deb Price home run. The fourth game ' was against the local Kingsbridge girls team with Lucknow coming out on top by a 7 - 1 score. Judy Draper pitched a three hitter to pick up the her'pitching performance in this one. Barb Helm also slugged a home run. August , was a home date with. Goderich Garb and Gear with the Ladies winning 12 -,„ 6 behind• the strong pitching of Debbie Wilson. August 14 was the Ladies final regular season home Same and it saw them defeat Goderich Elevators 15 - 5. The Ladies had special incentive for this victory as the visitors had the gall to measure out the base lengths. They found them out by a couple of feet ati-1 victory and also added a long home run. Deb Price collect- ed her second home run of the tournament in this game. With that victory Lucknovv advanced 'to the B division championship game against St. Marys Blanchard. The Ladies, having played their third game of the day, simply ran out of gas and the St. Marys team proved to be a little too much as they de- feated Lucknow .11 7. Judy Draper again con- nected for her second homer of the tournament. The loss dashed, any hopes of the Ladies bringing bacit the trophy they had won last year. On the Chic Holiday week- end the local team travelled to Allenford to compete in :their annual Buck & Doe Tournament which featured!' both men's and women's teams. , Lucknow lost their first game to the host Allenford team by a score of 16 - 9 which saw Allenford score 8 runs in a disastrous first inning. Lucknow then defeated Shallow Lake 14 •- 0 with Lorraine MacDonald coming back to pitch a four hitter for her old team mates in this game. Judy Draper and Deb. Wilson each hit home runs in this , contest. The B division champion= ship game was played against Tara in a three hour, 11 inning marathon which Tara ended up winning .18 - 16. This tournament also feat- ured a showdown competi- tion which consisted of one refused to play the game until the distanceS were .corrected, Debbie Wilson pitched an- other strong game for the victory, giving tip only eight hits, The Ladies. record is now 8, I WO they are if& witICIFV5-7- other ' teams with identical records for the last two play- off spots in :"A" division (four teams to make the "A" playoffs). Lucknow has :two away games left which will be crueial. in their playoff, quest member from each team throwing at a small target at home plate from second base. LucknoWs Debbie Wil- son won this competitiOn and the $15 prize money that - went with it. On July 25, 26 the Noisy Ladies were at the 1st annual Auburn Lions tournament. The Ladies captured the B consolation championship at this one and the trophy that accompanied it. Losing their fitit game to Goderich Elevators 11 - 7, which featured another Judy Draper home run they came ' back to defeat the local West Wawanosb girls team 17 - 7. Home runs in this one were hit by. Dona McDonald, Linda Guse and. again Judy Diaper. This get up the B final against Goderich Garb and. Gear whith had to go one. extra inning to decide a winner.: Lucknow found ' themselves battling froth be- hind. all game and finally ended up on top.7'- 6. The Ladies were led by Marj Hackett in this one with• Marj knocking in four runs, including the tying run in the 8th inning and scoring the Winning run on a Lori Pegg pinch hit double. This tournament was well.., run by its organizers with the weather being very unco- operative and_ several games were played under a steady rain fall. Next tournament action for the Noisy Ladies is this coming weekend when they will be playing in Wingham. The Ladies would appreciate your support at this one if at all possible.
