Before returning home to the Ripley School he taught in Southampton Public School where G.C. Huston, better known in his native Huron as Cliff Huston, was the prin- cipal. Stewart called at the house here on Sunday afternoon to renew acquaintances. On Tuesday of last week , Joe Fludder returned home to Ripley from Kincardine and District Hospital. Both Joe and his wife Mary are recuperating'at their home on Malcolm Street. Visiting with Joe, Mary and. Cathy on the weekend were her 'sister Irene and husband Bob Of Toronto. 'Jack and Marion Lawrie of Bruce Town-- Ship, visited on' Sunday with Evelyn and Jack Johnson in Ripley. Visiting with Carol and Donnie Flu-cider, Tammy Ripley tons hold picnic On Wednesday evening July 30 the annual Ripley and District. Lions Club, picnic was held at the Lions Park. The evening was arranged by Gerald and Judy Colling and Ray and Marg Fuller. A delicibus beef dinner was enjoyed by all the Lions and their families who were present. Present were two exchange students from Finland, Erkki Paatoven who is staying with Barb and Charles Liddle, Pekka Taneli staying with Don and Anna MacTavish. From the Lucknow Lions Club was Shannon Daly from Minnesota and her host family Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Livingston and Jon Richardon of Texas who is staying with Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Becker and President of the Lucknow Club Bill Nelson and his family. Lion President Ron Nicholson presented the students with a gift from the Ripley Lions Club. A vote of thanks was given to the committee in charge from all that' were present, and Jason on 'the holiday weekend were her sister Glenda and A„T. Gardner, Aaron and Brandon of VanaStra, Also visiting with them were Margaret Anne and. Carl Morrison and Kevin of Melbottrne, The >Ripley Firemen were represented last Saturday in two district Reunion parades. For- mer chiefs, Doug Liddle and Gord Scott had the 1947 Ripley,Fire truck in the 'Kincardine Parade in the morning and. then dretiie- to Dungannon and had it in the 125 Anniversary Parade there: The Ripley and District Lions' Club had a nice float in the Kincardine Parade. Also this area .was represented in the Renniqn Parade in Formosa 'last Saturday. 'Joan. Osborne, daughter ....of Robert- ;and----IVIttriel Oshorne, concession 4 east in HurOn township Was' one of the tern girls riding in the Parade who are competing for the. title of the 'Bruce Ceunty Dairy"Princess.for the coming year. So it was nice that the Ripley area was represented in all three parades. Alse the Huren and Kinloss Telephone had an entry in the Dungannon parade. The last train loaded with baled hay for Manitoba left a week ago. On August the first all shipments were stopped. So now the farmers have ' changed over to har- vesting their fields Of. fall Wheat and grain-Wagons loaded with wheat from the combines are coming to the. Grain Elevator instead of the loads 'of baled hay.
