Bay destined for the draught strieken
Prairies was loaded an: box cars at the rail
siding in Lucknow on Saturday. Over 2,800

loaded on cars which will link up With a
train for Manitriba„ Farmers from. as far
north as;the ninth of Kincardine Township
. to the tenth of Ashfield 'in the south have
brought in;baled hay to`fill the cars, which,
are being loaded at Wingham, Kincardine,
and Ripley as well as ,Lucknow. The first
train is 'scheduled to leave today for
Manitoba.

A 'NEED SURVEY'
The other project that Orion described
dealt with a survey to be conducted by four
local girls concerning the Ashfield residents'
input into their school system.
Mary Anne Boyle heads this team
consisting of' Kathleen Foran, Lisa. Frayne
and Rose Marie O'Keefe. These girls are
alsol paid through: the Biperience '80
program and will be aantiassing the entirety
of Ashfield Township in an effort to
determine what the school board could do to
improVe that institution in the eyes of the
community.
The canvass began on July 8 at the
south-east corner of the township (Highway
21-to-Nile sideroad). By the time the girls
blanket the 'district, which stretches north to
Amberley, about 1,100 .opinions; will have
been gathered, one household at a time,
Questions range from parents! views on
discipline to -the issue of community arid
school relations.
If any Ashfield residents are missed in the
survey campaign, they are asked to call` St.
-josephls -School-in-Kingsbridge_before
middle of August.
In addition to the summer programs at the
school this year, Gordon Kinahan has been
hired by the Huron-Perth Separate School
Board to maintain, the building and grounds
of the elementary school for 'the sunny
season. This brings to nine the number of
students finding employment in St. Joseph'S
School.
