Presley, the King of Rock and Roll. Rick has
a black suit, with sequins and high collar and
wide sequined waist band resembling the
King's costumes, complete with .the black
silletie-draPed-aratthethe 'necr,-Arid Rick's
imitation of Elvis is good. Rick has him down
pat, The third set is for greasers and the
band wears dark glasses, jeans, pointed
shoes and white socks and greases their
hair._ it's a tribate to the rock and roll of the
50s and with the Elvis set, the group finds
themselVes playing for greaser nights and
50s dances all over the area. ,
Rick enjoys the hand and performing.
Every good night, they have done is a
satisfaction,
"It's me," he says. "I can be sick, haye a
headache, be in a bad mood but as soon as I
qtep on the stage, it's gone.. I feel good."
The money is no concern to him, he adds,
he likes what he is doing. The band has
plaYed for two charity dances held at
Christmas time.
Promoted by the band themselves, the ,
Christmas Bash has raised money for
Crippled Children and they, are pl:tining •
another charity dance for this year.
Rick would like to see dances for young:
people promoted in Lucknow. He haS Played
';dance halls around this area and nobody has
a better: facility than lacknow. He wonders
why the 'young. people of Lucknow have to
travel 30 to 40 miles to a dance on a weekend
when there is a community centre here in
town came dressed as greasers. Everybody
loved it.
He suggests a country show on the scale of
a recent show sponsored by the Point Clark
Kinsmen in Ripley. A street dance is another
idea he would like to promote.
Rick would like to see a local organization
sponsor an event for the young people 'of the
community one weekend a month at the
community .centre and he is• willing to help
with the promotion and organization. It's a
shame the community's young people have .
to 'go out of town to find entertainment when
we have a fine facility here, he observes.
Rick and the •band like playing in
LuCknow. It was hardest to :play in your
hoMe town when they first started out.
People 'were thinking, "Oh; it's just Rick
Passmore. I went to school with him." But
the first Christmas Bash. filled• the,.coinnatn
. ity centre. People came to hear BSA, not
because it was a dance sponsored by a loCal
group 'or someone's Wedding reception.
They came because BSA was playing and
they were a hit in their home town.
People are still:coming to hear them when
they play here And they have to turn them
away at the door. one of the reasons the
Kinsmen booked them to play for Summer-
feSt. They draw a crowd and BSA is. good
entertainment.
He would like to see a Greaser Day for
exaMple. Bring in three Rock and Roll bands
and the town Can go .greaser for a day. •
BSA played 'at a '$Os rock and roll dance
where they sold_ tickets on a 1955 Mercury
Sun Valley with a run roof and the whole
