On Monday evening of
last week, June 9, the
regular monthly 'meeting
of the. Ripley Agricultural
Society was held ire the
Cafeteria— roo
Ripley• High School. In
charge were president
Dab, A. MacDonald and,
Secretary Don
MacTavish.
The president called
the meeting to order
about . nine and • lie
secretary ,reed the
minutes of the May
meeting. John Gamble
reported on the trophy for
the new goat show, Both
John Gamble and Ray
Fuller informed the
society they had no
further word on the Knox
shed site. The moving of
the stock loading ramps
is still to be done. -Also
John reported on the arm
wrestling competition.
The mileage rate for
official purposes was set.
Gloria Rutledge
presented the monthly
financial report and
further collections were
handed in by, Ray Fuller
and Bob Forster:
Past president Jack
Farrell reported that he
and his wife Janet along
with Mrs. Marjorie
MacLean of Lochalsh had
attended the District 10,
Bruce and Grey Counties,
Spring Meeting at Bognor
on June 4. Mrs. Janet
Farrell gave a full and
interesting account of
this meeting which was
attended by 170 people.
She reported that the Fall
District Ten' meeting will
be held in Dundalk. Also
This week in
that they had a good
question and answer
session, good en-
tertainment by the.
Sydenham Public school
students, the showing of,
slides of Scotland, and the
report of District
Director Leonard Pat-
terson of Mount Forest.
At the conclusion of her
report Janet received a
clap of appreciation.
In the- new business
part of the meeting
president Dan A.
MacDonald went over the
last year's prize list to get
the changes so that Don
MacTavish could record
these for the 1980 prize
list. Wilma Sutton and
John Farrell spoke on the
goat and sheep shows
respectively. John of-
fered to bring his dif-
ferent kind of sheep to the
fair for educational
purposes. Austin Martin •
listed possible new ad-
ditions to the vegetable .
class. Everyone was glad
to see. Austin back at a
meeting. Bob Forster
plans some changes in
the Pet Class which will
again be judged by Pont
Thuell of Gowanstown,

the heavy horse show and
