Last Saturday a call, came, to. Rev. A
Mackay from the Free Church congregation
at Kingussie, Seotland, signed at a congreg-
ational meeting, and two days after by 312
members and adherents over fourteen years
of age. On Tuesday, Mr, Mackay cabled
accepting the call and intends to sail for
.Glasgow from Montreal on June 14. He is to
preach first Sabbath at 11 'o'clock in South
• Kinloss Church. •
When the Lucknow Fire Company ,,does
anything, it is always done right. This year
the celebration'on May 24 will be under their
auspices, so you may depend on a good
day's sport from early morning till late at
night. There will be fun for all, old and
young, rich and-poor, lame and 'lazy, white

intention of qualifying at Monday night's
nomination meeting and received an accla-
mation to fill the vacancy on the Council
caused by the resignation of Cecil Attridge.
Mr: Webster was runner up in the January
election for Council, polling 240 votes.
Flying Officer Shirley Robinson, daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. Howard Robinson, of town
is now stationed at the -RCAF station at
Goose Bay, Labrador„ as a nursing sister.
She flew from Dorval airport at Montreal last
week to Goose Bay where she will be
stationed for a year. She was promoted to
Flying Officer prior to her latest posting.
50 YEARS AGO
Three grandchildren of JameS Agar of
Ashfield Township and Mr. and Mrs. Jake
Miller-oftueltneirrOnst-their-lives-whenthe
truck in which they were riding Was struck
by a train at a`railway crossing on the farm of
their uncle in Saskatchewan. The children
'were Jack Agar and his cousins; George and
Shirley Agar. The uncle of the children,
Irwin Agar and Jack's brother, Eldon
narrowly escaped injury when they were
able to get out of the truck before it was
• struck by the tram.
Following a few days of unseasenable heat-
early this Veek, the "Storm King". broke
lobse Thursday night and for five or six
hours sent up a ',succession of electrical
storing accompanied by heavy falls of rains
Which went quite beyond all 'useful limits.

Local 'correSpondents writing-columns
in the Sentinel have a common complaint.
VerY few people in their coverage area
phone-them with their news items. Their
columns are newsy 'because they- phone
the people in their 'community to gather
the news. .WithOut the excellent rural
correspondents working, for tile Sentinel,
the Other columns printed in the Sentinel
would suffer the same lack of news as the
LUcknoW column.
We, are open to suggestions as to how
wp can find pecople who would be
interested in gathering the • Lticlthow
news.. We also appreciate new tips and
suggestions for stories.

We would suggest that since our editor
was not, aware that Goalie Irwin was one
of the best hard ball pitchers in Bruce
County for over 20 years, Mr, Thompson
could have written. or phoned the. Sentinel
with this suggestion for a story and we
would have greatly appreciated the idea
and his interest.
