proached Council in regard
to :support from West Wawa7
nosh Township in her efforts
to establish a school for maj
orettes in Dungannon. Conn:
cil assured Mrs. Olson- that
West Wawanosh would prov-
ide their fair share of instruc-
tions costs, but no definite
committment was made pen-
ding information as to the
number of municipalities to
be involved.
Glen Olson questioned
Council about the deplorable
drainage conditions in DIA-
gannon, and a lengthy dis-
cussion ensued as to what
could be done to remedy the
situation. Mr. Olson was
advised that the only solution
at the present would, appear
to be a Petition 'for Drainage
signed by a majority of
property owners in the ham-
let.
At 2.00' p.m. Assessment
Commissioner Floyd Jen-
kins, and Assessor Ken Ra-
gan explained to Council the
ins and outs of an appeal to
the Minister of Revenue to
proceed with re-assessment
in West Wawanosh under
Section 86 of The 'Assess-
ment Act. Motion by Coun-
cillors Cranston and -Hickey,
"That the Corporation cif the
Township of West Wawa-
nosh-request the Minister of
Revenue, The Honourable
Lorne Maeck, te advise the
Assessment Commissioner
for this region to proceed to
reassess West WaWanosh
Township properties under
Section 86 of The Assess-
ment Act".
Motion by Councillors
Durnin and Hickey, "That
the Township of West Wawa-
nosh accept the tender of
Bannerman Contracting to
crush and haul approximate-
ly 21,500 cu. yds of granular
material to roads at $1.34 per
cu. yd., and to stockpile
approXimately 500 cu. yds. at
$1,05 per cu. yds., a total
tender price of $29,335.00
subject to approval by the
Ministry of Transportation
and Communications . "
The road accounts were
passed for payment on a
motion by Councillors Cran-
ston and Hickey.
A couple of items of cor-
respondence were read to
Council, the most important
of which was a copy of a
letter from the Federation of
Agriculture, Clinton, to the
Wingham District Office of
the Ministry of Natural Re-
sources, in regard to the lack
of information supplied to
(farm) landowners and Coun-
cils with new legislation
affecting streams where fish
are habitually located, and as
well the,Minitry's poor hand-
ling of a particular ease
presently under investigation
in the Township of West
Wawanosh.
Three resolutions, which
had, very little bearing on
affairs in. West Wawanosh
and,_,_vicinity were tabled.
