Juveniles -oust Wing Ministry of Transportation and Communications After a penalty filled series against Kincardine, Lucknow went on to play VVingham in their WOAA Grand Cham- pionship playoff Series. The first game in Wing- ham on March ,25 was a fast hardhitting game with- both— teams ready to play. hockey. Lucknow scored twice in the first, on goals by Simpson and Guay. Wingham came back to tie the game before• Lucknow went ahead 4 - 2 on goals again by Simpson and Guay. Wingham tied the score once again but Luck- now fought back with goals by Huinphrey and Brown. Wingham could not come back this time and Lucknow hung on to win 6 - 5. Poor backchecking and all around defensive play on Lucknovv's part let Whigham blast away at Don Borscht who played a strong game in net. On March 26 Wingham meant business when they came to Ltteicnow. In the first period atuiVhalf, Wingham scored five times and manag- ed' to stump the Lucknow shooters. A poor defensive effort was responsible with. Lucknow giving up the puck when attempting to clear it from their own end. Finally, Paul Hamilton put Lucknow on score board with font minutes left in the second period and Kevin Clark ad- ded another before the per- iod ended. Coming 'into the third trailing 5 - 2, Lucknow start- ed playing like they can and fought back to: ie the game on a single by Steve Simpson and a pair by Steve MacPher- Son, his last coming- at the two minute mark., The game remained tied although Luck- now had good scoring chanc- es but couldn't find the mark. This resulted in a 10 minute overtime period. There were good chances at both ends, but strong goaltending prevented any points on the score board. Wingham finally scored at the 2.44 mark to put them ahead but at '1.48- MacPher- son's third tied the, game. Wingham, came on again and scored at 1.27 and hung on to win 7 - 6. Lucknow had pulled the goalie' but could not capitalize on their chanc- es. The final game was played Sunday night in. Wingham., Lucknovv played their best game of the series and " took an early two ,zoal lead on goals by MacPherson and Clark. hi the 'second, three goals were scored by each team. Lucknow's marksmen - were Errington, Simpson and Dennis. Lucknow 'added two more in the third scored by' Humphrey and Clark with his second. Lucknow'went home with a 7 - 3 win and the series. Points in the Wingham series: G. A. Simpson 4 5 Clark 3 , 5 Guay 2 4 MacPherson .•4 2 Humphrey 2 2 Hamilton 1 2 Dennis 1 2 Londry 2 Errington 1 Brown Hackett 1 Haldenby 1. Boyle • 1 ° The Wingliam series was fast and had plenty of good hard checks handed out by both teams, even .though..' there were only 30 minutes of penalties to Lucknovv and 36 minutes of penalties to -Wingham in the Whole Ser- ies. This is a credit to both teams. The reason for mentioning this fact is to show Kincar- dine., a hard fast game can be played without the dirt put up with in that particular series. A good deal more could be said' about the Kincardine series, but after the statements made in their paper concerning Lucknow it is not worth the time, effort or space it would take to tell about it.
