Sherburn family's hands, In which it

ed with the Fast hiding of York-

There are references to Brunting-
ham to the Domesday survey. It was
at one time part of the "Manor of
Howden." In possession of the Me-
deahampsttde Monastery, the present
Peterborough, but at the time of the
Conquest the manor of Brantingham
was to the hands of the crown
William D., about 1076, conveyed
the manor to the See of Durham, and
when the Domesday Book was com-
piled in 1031 It was held by Durham
for the support of Ftnchdale Abbey.
