A SHOT
The floor is empty
the gym
is quiet
the ball lies
alone, unmoving
then
feet are bounding
hands grasp
the ball
it bounces
it live
swiftly up
the court
it goes then
back down
again
the ball
moves;
suddenly
he jumps
explosion of power
the ball
flies
a grateful
arch
and then
in finality
it
sinks through
the hoop
to
the ground
it bounces
and
lies
still
