mpulsory Automobile Insurance Act came into effect on
ecember 1st, 1979,-Now-C~ntarie-resz dents-must harti ei nsurance!to
register any motor vehicle. Drivers can nolonger pay $150 into the
Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund and register a vehicle without
insurance. The MVAC Fund didnotprovkle_insurance; it compen-
sated the victim of an accident and the driver responsible for
payment of the claim.
The deadline for car registration renewal is February 29,1980.
\f= To register any motor vehicle you must have a minimum of
$100,000 third party liability insurance. If you want more information
on the new Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, pick up a pam-
phlet at Vehicle Licensing Offices and Driver Exami.nation Centres, or
