Despite the loss of these fine
examples we still have some
remarkable people still living in the
county. Alice Munro, for instance,
is an internationally famous writer
but still has chosen to return to her
home county. We have business
people, we have artists, we have all
sorts of interesting people who
have proved that you can combine
an interesting career with our rural
lifestyle. Our young people may
still want to go off to other
glamourous places in the world but
at least they should know that they
have a choice.
