These diners were served by Festival Board President Marian Doucette [right] and actress Nancy Roberts. Other actors, writers and directors from the Festival along with board members and volunteers also served the large crowd. New Canadian play a 'Windfall' at Playhouse The final show this summer at the Blyth Festival Gallery from August 20 to September 17, 1988 features the recent paintings of popular artists Jo Manning and Ron Walker. The gallery exhibition opens Saturday, August 20 with a reception at 7:30 p.m. featuring the artists and many special guests. Sponsored by Canada Trust, this show is titled “Aspects of Nature-Mythical and Other­ wise.” Jo Manning is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. She began her career as a printmaker and has exhibited extensively in Canada and abroad. Currently working as a painter and deeply involved in the landscape of the Blyth area, Jo has received many international awards for her etchings. She has lectured widely on the topics of printmaking and etching, and illustrated such publications as the Catholic Sunday Missal and poetry books. Vincent of Blyth successfully completed the spring exams of the Royal Conservatory of Music. They include: grade 3 harmony, Laurie Little; grade 6 piano, John Ramirez, first class honours and Stephanie Lentz, honours; grade 5 piano, Darrel Lavis, honours; grade 4 piano, Andrew Perrie, honours; grade 3 piano, Tammi Middelkamp and Jodee Medd, both honours; grade 2 piano, Evan Hickey and Marianne Perrie, both honours. such groups as the Canadian Society of Painters and Etchers. The high regard inwhich Jo’s work is held is indicated by her number of national and international shows and awards. She won the Medal of HonourinFrechen, Germany in 1980, and her latest international shows were in Portugal and Chile. Ron Walker, currently an art teacher with the Huron County Board of Education, was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and stu­ died at the Regina College School of Art, and at the University of Saskatchewan under Roy Kiyooka, Ron Bloore, Ken Locheed and Art McKay. In 1959 he received a graduate scholarship to study at the University of Toronto where he obtained degrees in English and Art Education. Mr. Walker’s present exhibition at the Blyth Festival Gallery, like theartof JoManning, reflects a keen interest in Huron County landscapes. His work is represent­ ed in numerous private and public collections including Noranda Mines, the Sudbury Board of Education and the Art Gallery of Ontario. The Blyth Festival Gallery is open daily (except Sundays) and is free to the public. Local artists’ work is also on display all summer long adjacent to the box office with glassworks, weaving, pottery, stained glass and other crafts being featured. Windfall, a bright, new play by one of Canada’s most produced playwrights, Norm Foster runs at Huron Country Playhouse until August 20 on the Main Stage. The plot concerns Deborah Turnbull and Peter Elliott (Walter and Louise Brookside), acouple who become owners of a $5 million lottery win and escape from the outside world. Carl Ritchie plays the persistent reporter and Colleen Embree (one of The Geminae from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum) and Mark Wilson portray the Brookside children. Artistic Director, Sandy Mac­ donald directed “Windfall” with set design by Dennis Horn, costume coordination by Jose­ phine Zvonkin from St. Marys, Ont. and lighting design by Ben Cekuta.
