Auburn's Audrey Bos Queen of Dungannon Fair
AUDREY BOS
West Wawanosh Township’s
Audrey Bos, Huron County’s
1987-88 Queen of the Furrow, will
bear yet another title as she
represents her county at the
International Plowing Match in
Perth County next month. On
Sunday, theblonde, blue-eyed,
19-year-old was chosen over eight
other contestants as the 1988-89
Dungannon Fair Queen.
The daughter of dairy farmers
John and Gerrie Bos of KR 3,
Auburn, Audrey graduated with
honours from F.E. Madill Secon
dary School in Wingham last June,
and will enter the Co-op Honours
Mathematics program at the Uni
versity of Waterloo in September.
She has worked in the office at
Point Farms Provincial Park for the
pastthreesummers, andenjoys
volleyball, soccer and youth group
activities, as well as taking a very
active part in her church, the Blyth
Christian Reformed Church.
Audrey has also been a member
of the Hallrice 4-H Dairy Calf Club
since she was 12 years old, where
she has served in various executive
capacities, including those of both
president and vice-president. She
has shown her 4-H project calves at
both the Brussels Fall Fair and the
Seaforth Fair, and competed in the
Hays Classic at the Royal Agricul-
tural Winter Fair in Toronto in
1986. Chisholm Wood Products of
Dungannon sponsored Audrey in
the DungannonFairQueencon-
test.
Judging of the nine contestants
took place throughoutthe after
noon at the Dungannon Seniors’
Centre as part of the annual
Dungannon Family Fun Day, with
the Crowning of the Queen held as
the highlight of the Variety Concert
held Sunday evening at Brookside
Public School.
Audrey was crowned by the
1987-88 Dungannon Fair Queen,
Marcia Boak of RR 1, Dungannon,
wholeaves today (August 17) to
compete for the title of Miss CN Eat
the Canadian National Exhibition
in Toronto, as will Audrey herself.
Kim Edward, 17, of RR 4,
Goderich was named First Runner-
up to theQueen; Angela Glenn, 18,
of Dungannon was named Second
Runner-up; and Nancy Hunter, 19,
of RR 3, Lucknow, was chosen as
M iss Frie ndship by the con testa nts
themselves. The girls were spon
sored by Brindley Auctions, West
Wawanosh Insurance Co. and the
Dungannon Service Centre respec
tively.
Chosen as Junior Fair Princess
was Angela Brindley, daughter of
Ross and Maryanne Brindley of
Dungannon; while Junior Fair
Prince was Rob Ohm, son of
Beverly Ohm of Dungannon and
Ken Ohm of Goderich.

holds August
meeting
The August meeting of the
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at
the home of Mrs. Martha Daer.
The president Martha Daer
presided and read a poem to open
the meeting. She welcomed all
present. The devotional period was
in charge of Lillian Letherland. The
23rd Psalm was the scripture
portion and was read alternately.
The meditation was on “The Good
Shepherd” followed by prayer.
The Study was led by Marion
Haggitt entitled “This I believe”.
The September meeting will be at
Viola Raithby’s home.
People
Sympathy is extended to Anne
Giousher and family on the death of
her husband Ken who passed away
suddenly in his 51st year.
Dorothy Grange and Bob and
Shelley Worsell hosted a family
picnic at their home on Sunday,
August 14 with relatives coming
from Gold Hill, Oregon; Alpina,
Michigan; Flint, Michigan; De
troit, Michigan; Toronto; Straf-
fordville; London; Goderich and
Benmiller.
JANICE DAER
Janice Daer, RR 1, Auburn,
graduated from Wilfrid Laurier
University, Waterloo, on May 29,
1988 receiving an Honours Bache
lor of Business Administration
degree. Janice is the daughter of
Ross and Evelyn Daer. She is
pursuing a career in chartered
accounting and has accepted a
position with Clarkson Gordon
Chartered Accountants in London.
Janice is a former graduate of
GDCI. Congratulations also to
Janice for receiving her Gold Test
Dance medal from the Canadian
Figure Skating Association.
Hullett accepts tender
for municipal drains
HullettTownship council met on
August 2 for a regular session of
council which dealt almost exclu
sively with matters of drainage.
Tendersfor the Pollard Drain
Extension, Branch E, were open
ed, with the tender of Bayline
Drainage being accepted at a price
of $26,119.
In addition, the court of revision
on the Auburn Drainage Works
was held, with Reeve Tom Cunn
ingham as chairman; and the date
for the reading of the report for the
Storey Drain was scheduled for
August 16.
Council passed a motion stating
it had no objection to severance
application B45/88; and accounts
were approved as presented,
passed, and authorized for pay
ment.
The next meeting of Hullett
Twp. council was scheduled for
August 16.
