Howson Mills of Blytb got some good, live-action advertising as local kids competed in one of the sack
races at the Blyth Lions Club’s family picnic held at Lions Park on Sunday. From left, Adam Blair, J.

Feed costs
drive egg
prices up
The drought in Western Canada
has sent the cost of poultry feed
skyrocketing, and now egg prices
have joined the spiral.
Brian Ellsworth, general mana
ger of the Ontario Egg Producers'
Marketing Board, said in a recent
interview that consumers can
expect to pay 6 to 8 cents more for a
dozen eggs in the next week.
“The price of poultry feed has
risenby about $50 a tonne since
May,” he said, “and for every $5 a
tonne increase, prices to producers
rise 1 cent.”
