McKillop township council at its
August meeting agreed to join
other municipalities in the county
to negotiate a new franchise
agreement with Union Gas.
The decision followed reading a
letter from Denis B. Merrall,
Huron County Engineer to the
council. At an earlier meeting of
Huron County Council Mr. Merrall
had suggested it would be good if
there was a united stand by Huron
municipalities to bring new
strength to the negotiations.
In other business at the gener
ally quiet meeting, council gave
approval to a motion to give
permission to Clerk-treasurer
Marion McClure to attend the
Municipal Finance Conference in
London Sept. 28 and 29.
Councillor James Ryan was
appointed to interview the appli
cants for the attendant’s position at
the Walton Waste Disposal site
shared with Grey township.
Road accounts of $44,986.36 and
general accounts of $36,971.12
were approved for payment.
Blyth Minor Ball Association recently presented prizes to the winners of the June and July draws. Ella Ives
