PAGE 13. 42 attend Johnston reunion at Belgrave The Johnston Reunion was held Sunday, August 7 in the Belgrave Institute Hall with 42 attending from Windsor, Belle River, Kin­ cardine, Hickson, Woodstock, West Montrose, Denfield, Ilder- ton, Goderich, Lucknow, St. Helen’s, Jamestown, Brussels and Belgrave Compiled by Mrs. Helen Stonehouse. Phone SS7-94S7 John Johnston entertained the children with games and races. Prizes were given for: ball toss, Cameron Simmons; youngest girl, Robin Crutcher; youngest boy, Shane Clayton; oldest lady, Mrs. Adeline Simmons, Pine Crest Nursing Home, Lucknow; oldest man, Cliff Irwin; wedding anniver­ sary closest to August 7, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Le Pine; birthday closest todate, JimLe Pine; person from farthest distance, Dale Wright, Edmonton, Alberta. Grace was said by Cameron Simmons and a delicious pot luck supper was served by Mrs. John Johnston and Mrs. Ross Higgins. Mrs. Jean Le Pine welcomed everyoneandconducted a short business meeting. The secretary­ treasurer Mrs. George Johnston recorded the minutes. It was agreed to have the next reunion in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave the second Sunday of August 1990. The farm of John Johnston, Grey Township, was purchased by his grandfather George Johnston, Orange Hill, Howick Township November 16, 1988. Officers for the next reunion are: President, Mrs. Jean Le Pine; Secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Carl Clayton; Assistant secretary, Mrs. Ross Higgins; sports, Mrs. Bill Bremner and Mrs. Doc Stephen­ son; lunch, Mrs. Laura Johnston and Mrs. George Johnston. People Mrs. Jean Le Pine of Windsor is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins also visiting with other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton, Mrs. Lois Warwick of Goderich and Mr. Orval Ternau, Vanastra visited with Mrs. Laura Johnston on Sunday afternoon and all attended the Johnston reunion in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Clayton and baby Shane of Woodstock called on Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston visited with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lougheed of Barrie on Sunday, August 7. They also called on Murray McDowell at Cookstown. Mr. and Mrs. David Hanna and Susan of North Battleford, Sask, are holidaying with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna also with other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Wightman and Pamela of Fergus spent the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wightman. LastSunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wightman were Mr. and Mrs. Don Metcalfe of Hanover. Obituaries JOHN [JACK] BOWMAN Jack Bowman of RR 5, Brussels died August 3, 1988 at Wingham and District Hospital. He was born 86 years ago in Morris Township, the son of the late William and Janet (Speir) Bowman. He married the former Margaret Yuill who survives him. Also surviving are four daugh­ ters: Isabel, Mrs. Bill Elston, RR 5, Brussels; Doris, Mrs. Ross Strick­ land, London: Mary, Mrs. Mait­ land Edgar, Petrolia and Louise, Mrs. William Marshall, Calgary; and one som, Jim, RR 5, Brussels. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mary Yuill of Brussels; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grand­ children. He was predeceased by one brother. The funeral service was held August 7, 1988 from the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes, with Rev. Charles Carpen­ tier officiating. Interment was in Brussels Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Paul, Mark and David Strickland; Wayne Murray and Keith Elston; and Brian and Barry Edgar. Flowerbearers were Robert Strick­ land and Dean Edgar. MRS. KATHRYN [KAY] McLEOD Kathryn (Kay) McLeod, a form­ er Bayfield businesswoman, died at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Monday, August 1, 1988. She was 57 years of age. She was an employee at the Ontario Psychiatric Hospital in Goderich from 1965 to 1975 and was co-owner with her husband Donald of McLeod Fisheries, Bayfield from 1976 to 1987.
