CLINTON FIRST SHOW AT DUSK 482-7030 FRI. & SAT., JULY 22 - 23 There was foul play afoot at the children’s workshop at the Blyth Festival which performed its plays Friday. Cappy Onn [lying] is the victim of a poisoning while Courtney Sauve [left] and Zoey Onu check to see if they’ve done the job well. A hilarious experience awaits the audience that will see “Dins- ley, the Soap Opera, Not the Street,” the production currently underway by the Blyth Festival’s Young Company. ‘‘All I can tell you is that ‘Dinsley’ is a good, clean soap opera, combiningall the classic soap opera situations - there ’ s even a clean seduction - you ’ll see, ’ ’ said scriptwriter Colleen Curran. The story is about the people in the town of Dinsley, population 666, situated somewhere in central Huron County. It involves the lives and loves of indentical twin sisters - Kathy Dudley, whois very, very good, and her sister, Cathy, who is rotten to the core. Kathy, who has never left the old homestead where the twins were born, takes in Cathy, who says she has come home to die. But in reality, Cathy has returned to Dinsley to gradually buy up the little town, on behalf of some outside ‘‘monied interests,” and just how this is done has to be seen to be believed. Theplotinvolvesallthe usual soapish twists and turns, and each episode ends with a ‘ ‘real cliff hanger,” leaving the audience in frantic suspense as to what happens next. ‘‘I can’t give away the story,” Ms. Curran says, ‘‘Butlcantell you this - what happens to these people is definitely not a dream!” “Dinsley” has been written in four episodes, giving the 14 young people involved a chance to work with three different directors. Ron Gabrielis directingthefirsttwo segments, while Peter Smith and Hilary Blackmore will direct the third and fourth episodes respec tively. The senior Youth Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to work with theatre instructor Mimi Mekler, whose extensive theatre training experi ence includes work at schools and universities throughout Ontario. It will also give the young people involved a chance to have their own theatre company, where they will act as stage technicians, set designers, publicity directors and performers - all at no cost to themselves. The first two episodes of “Din- sley, the Soap Opera” will be performed at the Theatre Garage on Thursday, July 28 and on Friday, July 29, with two perfor mances each day. The third episode will be performed on Thursday, August 12, and the fourth and final episode will wrap the whole story up on Friday, August 13. Admission to Young Company productions is free, but donations are welcome to further the work of the annual Youth Workshops. PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA THURS., FRI.,SAT. 5P.M.-12A.M.
