The politicians were all wardens in 1986. ALL VISITORS WELCOME NOTICE TO BLYTH-fiESIDENTS The Village of Blyth Jias jn force By-Law 12-1985 allowing the registration of dogs, payment and collection of a license fee, the regulation of dogs running at large in the Village of Blyth and the imposing of a penalty upon every person who contravenes any provision of this by-law. Residents are asked to restrict and/or contain dogs to their property when noton a leash under the control of any person. Village of Blyth Council. Mrs. Ruby Philp visited in Ottawa and Chesterville for the past three weeks with her sister, Mrs. Kathleen Meldrum and her daughter and husband, Joan and Bill Racine. A bridal shower for bride-to-be Karen Wright was held on July 15 at the home of Evelyn Popp and put on by the groom-to-be’s sisters Dianne Popp, Debra Roy and Betty Holme. Karen and her sister Kim Wright were escorted to decorated chairs. Games were enjoyed and many beautiful gifts were opened and a delicious lunch was served. Congratulations to Betty Popp and Brian Holme who were married on July 9 in the Anglican Church of the Ephiphany on Holborn Street, London. Gordon and Catherine Caldwell, Jean Woods and Edna McDonald have returned from a trip to Vancouver and Victoria and took in the Calgary Stampede. Fred and Mary Howson return­ ed 10 days ago from St. John’s Newfoundland, where they atten­ ded a Gideon Conference, and in connection with this, they enjoyed several tours in that province. Recent guests of Harold and Adeline Campbell were their daughter-in-law, Joan Campbell of Truro, Nova Scotia; granddaugh­ ter, CharleneCarpentier, Dart­ mouth, N.S. and 14-month-old great-grandson Matthew. Joan spent most of the week with her mother, Mrs. Harvey Johnston, When rolling coins in wrappers, use a large book. Open the book at the middle and place the wrapper and coins on the inside seam. The coins won’t roll around, and wrapping becomes much easier. Clinton. Charlene attended a reunion celebration of the 10th anniversary of her Central Huron Secondary School’s graduation class. We are glad to report that Dick Poore is able to return to his office at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Brussels, tomorrow, after a smooth convalescent period following an appendectomy per­ formed in Clinton hospital. Mr. and Mrs. David Craig and family are occupants of the Russel Cook house, Morris St. South, for the remainder of the theatre season. David is busy putting last minute touches to his script of “Fires in the Night” which opens July 27. Mrs. Joan Watson has joined the Post Office staff on a part-time basis. Irvin and Betty Bowes returned last Sunday from an enjoyable three-weektioliday at Miller Lake. While there, they enjoyed enter­ taining family members and friends. Harvey McDowell reports that the lightning flashes during last Saturday’s thunderstorm were the most magnificent that he has seen. He stepped outside at 3 a.m. to gaze at the phenomenal beauty in the sky and to capture it with camera. Mrs. Sadie Porter of Kircaldy, Fyfe, Scotland, is spending a six-week vacation with her sister, Isobel and Art McClure and other relatives. She surely will enjoy fresh vegetables from the McClure garden, luxuriant despite the drought. Mrs. Porter is looking forward to a visit from another sister, Mrs. William Roselli and husband of Bramalea, who will also be guests of the McClures. The Village of Blyth crew, with one or two additional workmen, have been laying new sidewalk on the north side of Dinsley street from Mill to almost Queen Street. Now, gleaming white stretches of new walk on both sides of the block please not only our feet but our eyes. Other pleasant views win the block are the miniature park with its healthy three little trees and well groomed shrubs, the newly established grass boulevard, so so green for this particular summer, and just a few feet from it, the artistically decorated house that has been restored, and its interior, with fashion shops, a place of beauty too. The family of Alvin and Gene Snell gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Snell, RR 1, Auburn on Sunday, July 17 to honour Alvin on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Other family mem­ bers present included Mr. and Mrs. Jim Timpany and Dean of Aylmer, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Snell, Kriss and Nikki of Blyth, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Shannon, Darryl, Corey, Nathan and Devin of Blyth.
