Kevin and Trevor Logan remained for a one week holiday visiting with their grandparents Mrs. Dorothy Logan and Mr. and Mrs. George McGee. Mr. Carman Farrier of Long Branch spent the weekend with Three Brownies from the Belgrave pack received their wings as they flew up to Guides in a ceremony In Belgrave Thursday night. Ann Garniss was the centre of attention when she received her All-round Cord as the culmination of her years in Guiding at a ceremony In Belgrave Thursday. Also taking part were [backrow] Sylvia Brady, district commissioner and Belgrave Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins of RR5, Brussels and all attended the Memorial Service at Brandon Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Phone 887-9487 Nethery-L eishman reunion held The 43rd annual Nethery - Leishman reunion was held Sun­ day, June 26 at the community hall, Londesboro. Guests were present from Wind­ sor, Burlington, Hamilton, Corun­ na, Kitchener, London, Clinton, Londesboro, Wingham, Blyth, Belgrave, and surrounding dis­ trict. George and Ella Ives of Blyth were in charge of the sports which were enjoyed by all. Following the supper hour, president Alvin Gallagher of Kitchener conducted the business. He announced the deaths during the past year: Gladys Thorton, Mary Wade, George Noble, Cecil Black, Adam Shouldice and Thelma Nethery. A few minutes’ silence followed in remembrance. Special prizes were awarded by Mr. Gallagherto: oldest person present, Bert Garniss of Wing­ ham; youngest person, Brandon Lammerant, son of Dan and Anita Lammerantof Blyth; theperson coming the longest distance, John- Large crowd at Brandon service A Memorial Service, with Bel­ grave Knox United in charge, was conducted on Sunday afternoon, July 3 by Rev. John G. Roberts at Brandon Cemetery. An unusually large number of friends and relatives gathered to pay their respects to the memory of deceased loved ones. Mr. Roberts read scripture from John 11:28-35 relating the story of Lazarus death and concluding with a sentence, “Jesus Wept.’’ This short sentence was purposely placed in the account to show that the Master in a similar, conforting manner to ours, reaches out to us in our sorrowandtears. The King­ dom of God is in our midst. Faith is not compatible with despair. De­ ceased persons of spiritual faith have not reached a “ Dead End ’ ’, at the close of Life’s Journey.
