service
A Memorial Service, with Bel
grave Knox United in charge, was
conducted on Sunday afternoon,
July 3 by Rev. John G. Roberts at
Brandon Cemetery.
An unusually large number of
friends and relatives gathered to
pay their respects to the memory of
deceased loved ones.
Mr. Roberts read scripture from
John 11:28-35 relating the story of
Lazarus death and concluding with
a sentence, “Jesus Wept.’’ This
short sentence was purposely
placed in the account to show that
the Master in a similar, conforting
manner to ours, reaches out to us in
our sorrowandtears. The King
dom of God is in our midst. Faith is
not compatible with despair. De
ceased persons of spiritual faith
have not reached a “ Dead End ’ ’, at
the close of Life’s Journey.
Two appropriate hymns were
sung under the minister’s leader
ship followed by prayer and the
benediction which concluded the
service.
