Hullett Days are back as community party After taking a year off, the celebration known as Hullett Days will be back this Saturday, bigger and better than ever. The two-day celebration that had been a township highlight for many years has been cut back to only one day, but Hullett councillor Bob Szusz says that more fun for everyone has been packed into that one day, and the festival is expected to be an outstanding success. The day kicks off at 1 p.m. with theopeninggameofa Mushball Tournament which will run until 5 p.m., pitting teams from the four corners of the township against each other, Mr. Szusz said. At the same time, kids up to 12 years old will be involved in Summer Fun, a program of games and activities led by Hullett Summer Experience playground leaders Tanya Boon- stoppel, Tracey Middleton and Deanna Lyon, which will also continue throughout the after noon. Hullett councillor Ken Anderson is in charge of the Pork Barbecue which gets underway at 5 p.m. at the Londesboro Hall, and con Montgomery Picnic held at Sid McCullough's The Montgomery Picnic and Birthday Party was held Saturday, June 25 at the home of Sid and Marg McCullough, King St. and was a real surprise. Those who attended included their daughters Margaret Cook, Jeremy and Al; Shirley and Bruce Hulley, Cheryl and Steven of Goderich. Nieces and husbands, and families present were Irene and Jim Boilard of Kitimat, B.C., Shirley and John Strong, Monty Taylor and friend and twin boys tinues until everybody is fed, likely around 7 p.m. The barbecue is the only event of the day with an admission charge, but the meal, at $6 for adults and $3 for kids, promises to be one of the best you ’ll have all summer, say the volunteer cooks and workers. The Farmers’ Olympics will beginatabout8p.m.,andwhile the exact content of the games is being kept a well-guarded secret, Mr. Szusz hints that there will be a Jell-o eating contest, as well as several different obstacle courses which will provide almost as much fun for the onlookers as they will for the contestants. The co-ed teams for both the Mushball games and the Farmers’ Olympics were chosen by dividing the township into four quarters, then having each section choose its captain and team members, the only criteria being that they all live in that quarter. The Summer Fun program and the barbecue are, of course, open to everyone, while all profits from the barbecue will go back into township recreation, Mr. Szusz said. “There’s been one heck of a lot David and Gregory of London; John Montgomery (a nephew), and daughters Tricia and Tracey of Stratford; his sister Jean and James Penny, Jason and Marie of Lefroy, Ont.; Mrs. Ruth Iorio and Vikki and John Hanson of Brantford. Her sister and husband Betty and Don, Rogelstad, Dawn and two sons Matthew and Kevin and Lynn of Brantford. Eight present will celebrate their birth days in July and everyone enjoyed themselves. A lovely lunch and birthday cake was served. of work go into this event since we started planning it back in April,’’ he added, explaining that while volunteer recreation co-ordinator Neil Salverda of RR 1, Clinton is at the head of the project, dozens of volunteers from all over the township have committed many hours of work to the day’s success. But earlier this year, council’s Recreation Committee sent a questionnaire to every family in the township, asking what they felt the future of the event should be. When the overwhelming re sponse was that it should be held every four years, it was decided that the first of the new fun-days should be held in 1988, and SAVe 275 G.
