Phone 887-9487 20th Fayre successful Hot, humid weather failed to deter a large crowd of persons from attending the Twentieth Annual Belgrave Country Fayre, sponsor­ ed by Knox United Church, which was held on Saturday, June 25, in the Community Centre. The 1988 profit from the various sales, booths and the scrumptious smorgasbord meal surpassed all previous records. Hall, Thursday evening, June 23, in honour of the 23 Grade 8 students, who graduated from East Wawanosh Public School. The guest speaker for the evening was Patrick Cull, a former student of East Wawanosh Public School. The Science Award was won by Darlene Black and presented by Al Harrison. The Social Studies Award, won by Matthew Hussey, was presented by Brent Bowyer. The French Award was won by Crystal Black and presented by Madame Turcotte. The Mathema­ tics Award was won by Yasser Khan, presented by Belgrave Co-op. The English Award went to Belgrave people Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Smithson of Downsview visited over the weekend with Mrs. Elizabeth Procter, Belgrave and also Miss Marilyn Mayberry of Londesboro. The most improv­ ed student award was won by Laura Munro, presented by Sandy Simp­ son. The Industrial Arts Award went to Ian Morton presented by Brent Boyer. The Family Studies Award was won by Lorna Hum­ phrey presented by Sandy Simp­ son. The Award of Excellence went to Crystal Black and Matthew Hussey, presented by Sandy Simp­ son. The Citizenship Award was shared by Paul McIntosh and Brenda White, presented by the Belgrave Co-op. Darryl Culbert presented all the Belgrave Co-op awards. The Grade 8 Proficiency Award was presented to Crystal Black by Brian Potter of the Belgrave Kinsmen. Petrolia and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey of RR 4, Wingham have just returned home from an overseas trip, a glimpse of Europe, Eng­ land and Scotland. While in England they visited with relatives at Somerset. Coultes family attends London service Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coultes were part of a group who hosted a Durne Liturgy Service for the Ethiopian Orthodox Church held in the London Conference Chapel at Westminster College, London, on Sunday, June 26. The service was conducted by Rev. L. K. Messale Engedo from Toronto, an Ethiopian priest. This project was a part of the objectives following their trip to Ethiopia, to provide a place of worship for Ethiopian refugees in our area. In the afternoon they also attended the open house, pot luck supper and Communion Farewell service for Rev. Masaoke Hoshino and his family who are returning to Japan on August 1. Masaoke has been a missionary to Canada for the past three years and has been a guest preacher in most area churches. He has been called to one of the largest churches in Tokyo on his return. The service was held at St. Pauls, Botany Charge near Chat­ ham. People Mrs. Elizabeth Procter and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Smithson visited on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zettler and family of RR 4, Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Procter and family of RR 5, Brussels and on Saturday they all attended the Country Fayre at the Belgrave Community Centre.
