It’s taken nine long years to finish the first book of education, but we did it! It all started at the Prologue. After our tearful goodbyes to our parents we, 15 of us at that time, were left to fend for ourselves in a room that smelled of paint and plasticine. But we settled in allright, someof usthough, had our little quirks, eating glue for instance. And looking back I seem to remember Mrs. Wittich always wondering where it had gone. But we kids always knew! In Chapter 1, we started learning how to read, print, add and subtract. This year started as the base we needed for the years to come. In Chapter 2 that base was widened. We learned to print better from a little chalkboard on wheels and learned to add and subtract twodigit numbers. We also learned about tattletailing, because if we did we wore a paper tail for the day. Chapter 3 introduced us to French and public speeches that we had to write. Chapter4split us apart. Leaving half with Mrs. Charter and half with Mrs. Merrill. Each group getting work accustomed to their own abilities. In Chapter 5 we became seniors, that meant a change in recess and a change in image. This meant we packed away our dolls and trucks and replaced them with ‘cool’ clothes and up to date music. But we didn’t change our image completely; we still had fun with Mrs. Hulley’s coffee cup. Chapter 6 brought us a new teacher, Mr. Kerr who turned out tobe very nice after being made ou t to be a real monster. Mr. Kerr helped us improve our writing skills and build up a confidence in ourselves. Chapter 7 brought us the toughest year and toughest teach er. Mr. Yeats wasn’t all bad though, we had a lot of fun getting him off topic. In the epilogue Mr. Black gra ciously gave up his weekend, away fromhisfamily, sowegrade8’s could go toOttawa. A trip which we all enjoyed! Tonight most of us, I think, have mixed feelings about our future.
