Phone 887-6677 Local people at reunions Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and Mrs. Ruby Webster attended the Webster Reunion at Brookside Public School on Father’s Day when there were 38 signed the book that afternoon. Mrs. Isabell Shortreed, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Shortreed, Jim, Robbi, Kendra and Amy attended the annual Higgins Reunion on Sun­ day. About 70 family members UCW Unit plans meals Walton II unit meeting was held at the home of Helen Williamson on Wednesday evening with 11 present. gathered for a barbecue dinner in the Lions Park, Listowel. After the meal a social time was enjoyed with visiting, games and fun in the pool, also an election of officers for next year. Guests were presentfrom Calgary, Toronto, Waterloo, Stratford, Mitchell, Lucknow, Belmore, Komoka, Bel­ grave, Gorrie, Brussels, Walton and other points. Duff's church news Duff s United worshippers were greeted Sunday morning by Bren­ da Linton and her daughter. Organist Marion Godkin opened with the prelude and accompanied for all the hymns. Flowers were put in the church by the Walton I Unit. Ushers were Ray Huether, Barry Hoegy andLavernGodkin. Rev. Bonnie Lamble took as her sermon, “Ambassadors For Christ." The barbecue put on by the unit was quite a success again this year. Plans were made for a wedding and Blyth Festival dinner. The next meeting will be on September 14 with other unit as a joint general meeting. Executive meeting is called for September 7. The meeting closed with prayer and a social time followed. Following the morning service a picnic was held with several games, contests, and lunch. Brothers and sisters of Rev. Kenneth and Mrs. Knight gather­ ed at the cottage of Jim and Dona KnightatBayfieldon June 12in honor of Ken and Ileen’s 30th wedding anniversary. The Woodbine M100 Cranbrook held their annual barbecue at the Community Centre on June 14. All enjoyed a delicious supper follow­ ed by a short business meeting conducted by Bro. Bob Bremner. Around 30 attended including Bro. Norm Hill and Sister Jessie from High Court, Brantford. After a time of visiting, the meeting adjourned at 9 p.m. Mrs. Jack Clark, Stratford, and daughter Sharon Engel, London, and Rosanne Burdett and son Brent, Waterloo, visited Mrs. Mac Engel. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Starr, Shelburne, visited on the weekend with Don and Mrs. Cotton. On June 14, Mrs. Van Beck - Potyk came from Apeldoorn, Hol­ land to visit Peter Hagedoorn. She arrived in Montreal and was driven to Cranbrook by Marion Hage­ doorn and her friends Therese d’ Aout, and Sister Felici tas. The girls came from London with their leaderMrs. Clara May Eckmier and spent their time doing crafts towards earning their badges. Wingham hospital gets grant to replace windows The Ministry of Health has approved a Capital Grant of $103,858 for the Wingham and District Hospital, Health Minister Elinor Caplan and the Honourable Jack Riddell, MPP for Huron, announced recently. The grant is based on a total project cost of $185,861 and will be used for replacement of windows at the hospital. The construction contact has been awarded by the hospital to the lowest bidder, Abelson Window Inc. Work is scheduled to begin immediately.
