When something this big and ugly asks for a bite of your hog dog, you oblige it in a hurry, and that’s just what three-year-old Melissa Engle of Cranbrook did at the annual Garage Sale and Lunch Booth at the Cranbrook Community Centre on June 8. The sale attracted a large crowd, despite the cold weather. Minister speaks on parables Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez spoke on “Parables of the Kingdom” in Blyth United Church Sunday morning, based on Mark 4: 26-34. He said that these stories and many others tell us that Jesus was a great lover of nature and the loving care He had for all people and things. Just as seeds grow very slowly but surely - so the kingdom of God will grow if we have patience. He pointed out that from the story of the mustard seed we learn that very small beginnings can grow into great things - but that we must not confuse quantity with quality in God’s kingdom. In his conversation with the children Rev. Ramirez talked about growing plants and that we plant the seeds and care for them but only God makes them grow. The choir sang, “Under His Wings”. Greeters were Kathy McNichol and Debbie Root. Ush ers were Patsy and Harvey Ber nard. Flowers were in memory of George McCall.
