HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1988-06-15, Page 17Les Knight heads Brussels Masonic Lodge At the regular meeting of St. John’s Lodge 284 A.F. & A.M. on Wednesday, June 8 the officers for the ensuing Masonic Year were installed and invested by installing Master Wor. Bro. Murray Hoover and his team from St. John's Lodge. Visitors were present from Toronto, Wingham, Fordwich and Tillsonburg. After the ceremony a social hour and refreshments were enjoyed. Grey Twp. council buys new grader Grey Township Council held its regular meeting on June 6, and accepted a tender from Champion RoadMachinery Salesfor a new grader. The total tendered price, with a trade-in allowance for a 1970 grader, amounted to $141,912, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Transportation. The new grader is to be delivered on November 1. Council also accepted the tender of Kuepfer Farm Drainage Limited for the construction of the Hall Municipal Drain Relocation. The Kuepfer tender, amounting to $3,695.20 was the lowest of 5 tenders received. Council also decided that any decision concerning the construc­ tion of the Smillie Municipal Drain would be deferred until the National Transportation Agency makes a decision with respect to CP Rail’s application to close the Goderich Subdivision link between Guelph and Goderich. A decision concerning the application is ex­ pected by July 1st. Council reviewed a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food which established a budget allocation for tile drainage loans for the 1988-89 fiscal year of $100,400. Since debentures amounting to $94,800. have already been issued, Council passed a resolution re­ questing the Minister to raise the allocation to $200,000.00. In other business, Council ap­ proved general accounts totalling $226,733.65 road acounts totalling $135,226.37and drain accounts totalling $4,544. Hullett Council also wishes to inform ratepayers of the Township, that due to the county-wide reassess­ ment and the resulting delay in the finalization of the 1988 assessment roll, the 1988 property taxes notices will not be issued until the last week of June with a due date sometime in July. TRACK AND FIELD On June 2, it was the track and field meet in Seaforth. Everyone had a good day. Melanie Knox and Lindsay Anderson placed first overall in their category. Great work girls, and all who participat­ ed. HURONVIEW The junior choir as well as some seniors entertained at Huronview on June 9. The juniors did a musical called “Noah’s Ark”. KINDERGARTEN On June 13, at 1 p.m. was the Kindergarten’s Farewall party. All family members were invited. Congratulations to Maranda Blake for winning third prize at the Clinton Spring Fair. GRADE4 The grade four class is busy working on their snake projects. They learned how harmless some snakes can be. SLOW PITCH The Hullett Slowpitch teams are practising heavily to prepare for the slowpitch tournament on June 15 at the Clinton Public School.
