The chance tor families and friends to worship together in an outdoor setting came Sunday when five Brussels churches took part in the second annual Community Church Service, held on the lawn of the Brussels United Church. Rev. Charles Carpentier led the worship, Rev. Pat Nunn led the prayers, and Rev. Doug Zehr delivered the sermon. The service was followed by a picnic lunch and social time, highlighted by some friendly rivalry at the Brussels Optimists’ Dunking Machine. Blyth's Sunshine Unit hears of refugees The Sunshine Unit of Blyth U.C.W. met on June 9 with an attendance of 20 members who answered the roll call with a verse from the Book of Colossians. Mary Wightman and Evalena Webster conducted Devotions, and as they had attended West minster Weekend in London, a few days before, they gave their impressions of the subject which was, “A Closer Walk.” The topic speaker was Myrtle Vodden, who first read a Letter from the Division of World Out reach in Huron-Perth Presbytery which contained news of five young people living in refugee camps in Thailand who have been given permission to emigrate to Canada. They will join relatives who have been living in the South Huron area. Their housing is being arranged by the Exeter United Church people. Huron-Perth Pres byterychurches will be sponsoring other aspects of these young Laotians’ living accommodation. Myrtle also described what takes place in a day of a Black Woman in South Africa. The business portion of the meeting consisted of making extra plans for the U.C.W. catering for the theatre dinner on June 17 in the Community Centre. There are still available a few tickets for this popular event which precedes the out door program and the opening play. Another big meal, catering plans for which were also discuss ed, is the Graduation Banquet of Blyth’sGrade8’sonJune23, at the United Church. Atthemeeting’sclose, Grace Easom, Selena Machan and Rena Watt served lunch. SMALL COPIER BIG SAVINGS The Canon NP-112. It’s the affordable desktop copier that’s big on features.
